looking for documents explaining the legality of featureless rifles

Hi guys Im trying to obtain documents stating that featureless rifles be it AR, AK, etc or legal in California, I would prefer it can from a federal or state agency but I'm not picky on the source

I can across a memo from the Sac police department stating the legality of rifles with bullet buttons and how they are not assault weapons.

I know things might have changed with the AB94 law

but old material would do as well

    Thanks

AFAIK, typically the law does not state what is legal, just what is illegal. Official memos may occasionally offer an opinion as to the legality of certain things (i.e. bullet buttons, loaded mags in the same locked container as a fire, etc.)

IANAL however, and I could be wrong.

Ill keep lookin through my bookmarks. But, lets see if this helps you at all.

What you look for does not formally exist.

The 'assault weapon' law, 'features' part (PC 30515), has listed things that in combination would create an 'assault weapon.

If you do not do what is so specified, you have a 'featureless' gun.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Learned something new (for me, anyway,) that the link says flash suppressers are ok w/ Bullet Buttoned rifle. I thought only muzzle breaks were cool with "the man."

Flash suppressors are one of the "evil" banned features, so in order for it to be "legal", you need to have the right combination of "evil" and "not-so-evil" features.

The only way you can legally attach a flash suppressor to a semi-auto rifle is having it both featureless AND with a bullet-button installed.

Semi-auto, centerfire rifles can only have one "evil" feature. Add a second and it's AW-status.

FWIW, I keep a copy of the flowchart in my range bag.
