Question on Ruger mark 4 tactical

I may be able to get a ruger mark 4 tactical from a friend moving from out of state.... however I am worried that it is considered a "assault weapon" because of the threaded barrel.

Because of the design if I make the magazine fixed... can I still have the threaded barrel or does it require me to permanently remove the threads or permanently fix a muzzle device to the threads by pin and wield?

How do you plan to load a fixed-magazine 22lr pistol?

I don't know what you plan on paying for this firearm, but you'd be better served going and buying a new Mark iv Target and staying out of prison
      ^^^This.

The MarkIV Target is on the roster. Save yourself some pain in the rear.

well it does break down similar to a ar... so you can fix it to the lower portion and break it open to load it...... besides my friend is willing to sell it to me at quite a deal, which is why I am considering just fixing the magazine onto the lower to make it California compliant.

So the question is if I make the magazine fixed... is it now California compliant?

The person moving to CA, must make the Ruger Mark 4 Tactical CA legal prior to entering CA.

If they do not, then they will be importing an illegal assault weapon to CA [PC 30600(a)] and will be in possession of an illegal assault weapon in CA [PC 30605(a)].
          ^Two CA felonies.

In order to be CA legal, the Ruger Mark 4 Tactical needs to be modified before it enters CA.

          Option A.
A muzzle device (thread cap or muzzle brake) is permanently attached (pin & weld) to the threaded barrel.

          Option B.
The threaded barrel is replaced with a non-threaded barrel.

          Option C.
A 10 round magazine is installed in a manner that it cannot be removed until after the grip frame is removed from the receiver.

          Option D.
A 10 round magazine is permanently attached (rivet/weld) into the grip frame.

so if they modify it to have the magazine permanently affixed before they come to California it is legal.. but after they come in... it is a felony.

Gotcha Ill let them know! Thank you.
