My review on the 80% Arms Easy Jig

As the era of build parties was over along came the jig. So for many do-it yourself type of people this was a great way to build your paperweights and for sometime the use of traditional jig made completing a paperweight time consuming and imprecise and even if carefully done it would still have many imperfections. So now if you decided on doing it yourself the problem was which jig should I get? Well now in the market is seems everyone has there own version of a jig but as far as i know there are only two companies that produce jigs built for the use of a router. Many will say using a router is dangerous but any tool that you will use will be dangerous if not taking caution and seemed that the router method was less expensive in the long run and less time consuming giving better results than traditional jigs.

So this will be my review on the 80% Arms Easy Jig

I will just post what my final results and findings about the jig is rather than going thought the process because there are several videos showing this and I think people are rather more interested in results.

The first two pictures will show jig and paperweight being installed.

the picture shows the close up of the final results I got using the jig, ( sorry for the bad picture i tried cropping to get a close up of the pocket). In the pictures it may look rough but it did come out clean but there are parts that are rough but that because i went to fast and the bits walked not paying attention.

Quality of the jig was great, strong, sturdy and able to reuse it many times over.

Pros: jig with use of simple tools router

Cons: would have liked my router plate to be anodized

    End results: Pretty good

Overall thoughts: For the first use it did take me awhile but thats me it may vary for others. Now that I know the process I can do it alot quicker. I went with 80% arms because of the fact i can use a router which will give me a better end result than traditional jigs and also because it looks less complicated to use than other competing jig

    I recommend them.

That looks great! Smooth sidewalls without ridges. Good alignment so there aren't any drill holes showing in the finished product. I have a different technique to get the trigger hole perfect:
      -Skip drilling it.
-After milling the FCG set the router in the template with it off.
-Find the bottom with the mill end and go down just enough to tilt the router up off the router plate.
-Tilt the router up just a bit in the trigger slot template and turn it on.
-Holding the router firmly, gently ease the mill end into the piece. There will be a little chatter just hold it and go slow until it runs smoothly. Run it around in the template it will be a shallow cut and go fast.
      -Repeat until through.

It's really thin at the bottom and you'll only have to do this 4 to 6 times. It goes really fast. Best part? Perfect trigger hole with no drill press.

it came out pretty good although i started getting impatient in the end and hurried up that's why the trigger pocket didn't come out the greatest.
