thats .004 of extra material, unless your slide is already finished and you are only getting the frame coated.

If machined and lapped to very tight tolerance, .004 is quite a bit and probably wouldnt go together by hand.

.002 probably get away with and should clearance itself out anyway.

i guess it will test that self lubricating properties.
      Actually, I like your math...................

I would think this may be a remedy for those who ended up with a little to much clearance after lapping and such. Could give some a second chance.

While I am here, has anybody done a hardness test on the frame?
Just wondering if it really is 4140 and if it was heat treated at all?

      Anybody have the answer?
      Thanks.

These were definitely NOT heat treated. Im pretty sure they are 4140, just because ive got some 4140 parallels and v blocks i surface ground myself and they just feel/seem the same. Im around steel aaaallllllllll day.

I'll take one to work tomarrow, we have a hand held hardness tester. The banana told me they were 4140 and im assuming they are probly around rc 28-36

Ill take a few pictures tomorrow with a gov mag in. I think it's fine when in place, just not clean looking. Also my pinkie catches the notch when gripping the gun. So i plan on swapping out the plastic on the bottom of the mag with a custom piece to fill in the notch. There are down sides to that... we'll see.

It'll be worth it. Take a break, have a beer, then jump back into it.

I just finished lapping the frame and slide. Smooooooooth. My hands are blistered but I put in my barrel and recoil spring to test out racking the thing... I've very impressed.

I used some 150grain sticky back sand paper with a 1/2" metal bar to san the magwell for it to fit. The cheap mag i had dropped freely after a few mins of sanding however when I put the grip on the frame it sticks hard. I have to take a look at it tomorrow when i'm not so tired with it on.

My slide stop doesn't fit for some reason so I'll check that tomorrow too and probably just buy a new one tomorrow.

for anyone who wants to see a quick run down of the milling, you can find a few pictures (not much) on joe's bp page here. The build party is in norcal in 2 weeks if anyone up north wants to get it theirs done.

Just picket up an Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit. After spending money on .45 top end , wish I would just get this kit for Aries frame. Did not shot it yet but it fits like a glove.
