    Just calipered w209 and fiochis.

w209 measures .2370 at the tip near the flash hole and .240 at the base, closer to the strike area.

Fiochis measure .240 uniformly from base to tip.

Fio, Chedd and Rio primers are wider than CCI, Win, Fed and Rem primers. You can widen US hulls to get the Euro primers to fit, but keep those hulls separate. If you try to reload Euro hulls or US hulls that had Euro primers, the primers may fit and stay in the hulls but they will be really lose and there's a chance that they will fall out in an autoloader or pump gun. In a break barrel gun, there's less likelihood of loose primers falling out but you might still get a flame erosion ring on the breech.

I've inadvertently done that before. Sometimes the primers sit snug, sometimes they fall out on their own, sometimes you can pull them out with your finger nails.

Thank you for that. I've been keeping hulls separate but I am down to only Fio primers so I'll keep using them until they run out and replace hulls later.

Found some w209 at Sportsmans today. When I left there were 5 bricks of 1000 each. Still 23 dollars.

Yeah - thanks for the confirmation. I remember the old geezer trap guys carping about it a long time ago, and wasn't sure if things had changed.

OK, maybe its time to buy some powder too. The shotgun powder is disappearing.

I was lucky to find a working load and all kinds of components to stay self-sufficient. Granted shotgun shells are still available, maybe not the "self-defense" stuff but I got slugs, buck 00 and 4, 8shot, wads of all kinds and it seems like that's the only "brass" you can find at the range anymore. Love those remington hulls (not brass).
