Sacramento Valley Shooting Center - Please Read

    Public Service Announcement

    New office policy

Please remember that beginning April 1st you will be required to show us your membership ID card when you sign in to shoot at the range. Our membership is growing by leaps and bounds and proceedures must be adapted to meet the growing need of service. You will receive a new membership card when you become a member or renew your membership with the club. Don't forget ... membership renewals are due by April 1st. Thank you for your cooperation.

I just want to add, those who have "qualified" to use the 300 yard range, don't forget to also have your qualification card with you. Some people think it's silly to have to qualify to shoot 300 yards, but you'd be surprised by the number of shooters who move from 100 to 300 yards and do nothing but shoot up the target frames. Additionally, for those who have never been there, the SVSC is AW/OLL friendly. As along as you are safe they will not hassle you.

Second to ask that question. Is this a private range now?

I checked their website. It has the message in two places. It could mean that MEMBERS were not required to show their membership id at sign-in, and they will be required at sign-in starting April 1.

However the initial post really sounds like you're required to show a membership card to sign in, therefore requireing membership.

I would appreciate a clarification, since I planned on checking out SacValley this spring.

NO, you do NOT have to be a member to shoot on the ranges open to the public.

You need to be a member, and show your membership card, so you don't a) get charged the range fee that NON members pay, and b) are able to use the member only ranges.

The shotgun range, the 100/300 yard rifle range, the 50 yard pistol range, and the .22 rimfire metal plinking range are all still open to the general public friday through tuesday.

Pathfinder- what is required to qualify to shoot on the 300 yd. range. I am a member at sac valley but haven't done anything besides the 100 yd range (and the silhouette range when I first joined but they didn't require a qualification then.)

Just tell them you want to shoot on the 300 yard range. They'll give you a target, tell you to shoot X number of rounds - all in the black. If you do that they give you a little card saying you're ok to to use the 300 yard range.

It really does help cut destruction of the target frames. Which someone has cut the wood, nail them together etc. That takes time and money. SVSC goes through an ungodly amount of frames every year. Next time you're out there just take a minute to look at the frames on the 100 yard rack. Notice how many have the legs shot to pieces. How can someone miss a 2'x2' target and hit the leg???

I've seen them miss a 4'X4' target at 100 yards.

When they allow 50's I'll join and renew every year. How nice it would be to have a safe and respectable place to unleash her on the 300 yarder. Close to the house, too!

They also have a 5 bay IPSC range that has Steel, IPSC, and IDPA matches throughout the month. Occasionally they also have multigun matches where you get to fire your rifle at over 300 yards on the clock. Great guys run the action ranges there.

Membership card and 300 yard card? Don't need that when they know you by name.

Speaking of blasted frames... next time you're at the pistol side at SVCC check and see how many of the frame *BASES* have bullets embedded in them-- and not just one or two!

There's also a semi-fresh hole (exit wound) in the roof over the high power silhouette range-- I wonder how that happened.

Or when you're on the list to be able to use the 1000 yard range
