ARES SCR Lowers are in stock at Bud's Gun Shop. Less than 5 left.

In case any of you are interested.

I got one of these a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it!

Gave it to my buddy when I left California, but I really wanted to keep it.

The ARES SCR took the industry by storm with it's unique AR-15 upper compatible SCR Lower Receiver Assembly. This assembly allows the use of AR-15 uppers of various calib

Notice it comes with it's own shortened bolt group with the tail modification. The tail portion goes into the stock and contacts the plunger/spring assembly.

I thought this wouldn't accept a standard upper, or maybe it was another brand?

It's angled. The bolt carrier has a rat tail, not unlike that of some shotguns and the buffer tube in the stock is angled.

You can put a standard AR upper and bolt on it. I completed mine with a PSA freedom upper. You can purchase a special bolt catch for it as well.

This one will. I used a PSA freedom upper, replaced the flash supressors with a claymore muzzle brake and it was good to go.

Keep in mind these aren't the more desirable Monte Carlo stock version.

I got mine for HD so I didn't need the Monte Carlo stock. I have heard of some people fitting shotgun stocks to these, but not sure of the outcome.

Anyways, I loved the rifle and was sad to part with it. These went out of stock around the time ARES changed their name to FightLite, mine was marked as "Ares" and already had the 2nd gen trigger, as the first ones were very bad.

                Edit: Wow! Look at this!

No gas (block), straight-pull would be accurate and fast IMHO.

I have one of each and the MC I got a few months back... they have been going in and out of stock regularly enough that even my small LGS gets them with little problem lately. Grabagun sends me "back in stock" alerts a few times a month sometimes.

If you want one, a fair price is around $450.

Yeah the MC is good but the sporter is fine too. Doesn't really matter much when you are shooting them.
