    Beretta A300 Charging Handle Stuck

I have a new Beretta A300 that I am trying to take apart and clean for the first time.

According to Beretta (and every freaking youtube video I can find) to remove the action you pull the charging handle from the bolt so the bolt can be removed from the gun.

I have pulled on that motherflipper until my fingers are bleeding. I have pulled on that thing with pliers. Two hours attempting to remove that dang thing and it won't come out. I tried dropping some oil down the shaft of the charging handle and letting it sit for a couple of days, but that didn't help.

Anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? I'm considering cleaning the gun as best I can and shooting it to see if that will loosen the handle.

I called Beretta and was told "it can be a little stiff" the first few times..." Awesome, thanks for nothing.

    Beyond that...grrrr

Yep, mine was stiff the first time too. Oh, and it was tough to get my charging handle out the first few times

If you do get it out, you'll have to drop the trigger group out to get it back in.

    Where do you live?

      Lake Forest.

I may take it in to OC Firearms (where I bought the shotgun) and see if they have some tool that may work.

If they don't, I'll shoot it in hopes that will jar the handle loose.

Don't use the pliers, you might damage the shotgun. This happened to me too when I first tried to my shotgun apart. The charging handle simply would not come off.

I finally managed to remove it by wrapping a string around the handle, and then pulling on the string. The first time I did that I remembered I had to use A LOT of force. I raided my wife's kitchen for the string, which is actually a cooking butcher's twine similar to this one:

Wrap the string around the handle a few times so that you'll have enough support, and yank it hard to get the handle off.

I just read about pulling out the charger handle a couple of days but on a Remington 1100.
They wrote about using para cord wrapped a few times around the handle, make loop in the end and use your foot to pull it out.
No diagrams so you'll have to use your imagination about how to use foot/loop??

As I said, if you pull the bolt out on an A300, you'll probably have to drop the trigger group out to get it back in. Be sure you have the right pin punches to do it.

On the flip side, I very rarely take my bolt out because A300s run so clean.

Also, don't gently pull on it, the first few times mine need a sharp yank. I had to wrap the handle in a rag and pop it out with pliers.

                    Same here.

With the bolt slightly retracted, you should be able to wiggle the handle and pull it out. If the bolt is completely forward, the handle will be pressed against the receiver and you will not be able to remove it.

Yep, try pushing it in, then pull on it. Or wiggle it.

A bunch of us will be at Raahauge's this Friday morning if you want to join us.

                        That sounds tempting. What time?

I've tried most of the suggestions above. I'll give the paracord idea a try. I tried using string, but the string broke.

We get there about 9:30. Ping me if you're going to show up.

Squirt a little oil down in there and let it soak. Maybe ice the handle, but really just yank on it.

A boot or shoe lace works well, also.

Tried the oil and let it soak for two days. No difference.

I'll know what my Friday looks like on Wednesday night. I'll let you know then if I can make it out.
