DP12 - Double Barrel Pump review

    edit--

    I just watched this review-

    Quirks-

If you fire 1 barrel, the gun cannot be placed on safe. You must cycle the action to remove the 1 fired hull and 1 live round. Once the hammers are cocked, it can go on safe.

If you load an uneven number of rounds, or if one side does not load from a tube, you end up with 1 barrel loaded and one empty. Them when you pull the trigger, you head a click not a bang as the firing pin dropped on an empty chamber... so you might believe you are empty...if you pull the trigger a second time... the other loaded chamber will fire.... so if you are the guy who pulls the trigger a second time to cycle the action, instead of using the slide release, an ND is a concern.

I would not want to be a student in a class where others had this shot gun and I will pass on it as a HD firearm.

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Is this the same gun that was "exclusively available" only through CTD when it first came out?

It seems like a cool gun. About the only gripe I might have with it is if you accidentally load one extra round in the left magazine. You could have no shell in the right tube, pull the trigger, think the gun is empty, and make a big mistake. Of course that shouldn't happen, but we all know how things can go - especially on a brand new and rather unique platform.

I personally hate the fire 2, then pump experience... It goes against the habit of running the pump during recoil every time...

That's ^ the thing that's keeping me from buying one...I don't even know if it's possible for me to unlearn that "fire, pump, fire, pump" muscle memory, haha!!

Love the one I have and learning the pump bang bang pump is not brain surgery. if I can figure it out, anyone with a public school edjumicashion should be able to as well.

Cowboy action shooters are used to bang bang then reload. I suspect it's not that hard to learn. This is the first bull pup that I have seen as being viable.
I think Thor's hammer was an 45-70 lever action loaded with Garrett cartridges.

Well, we'll see if this dog can learn a new trick...I just ordered a DP-12. Should be an interesting shotgun

I think it's biggest advantages are the ammo capacity and compactness. Should it run out during self defense use age, I think transitioning to a pistols is your best option.

Funny you mentioned that. That's the reason I got one, pump, bang bang, pump, bang bang. Love knowing that my follow up shot is just a trigger pull away.

If you only use this type of pump you'll be fine, but if your under stress and have or pick up another pump things can get ugly. Although the same could be said when using a different brand or a semi as well. IMHO I don't like it because its very very heavy.

Have you shot one before? I've put about 300 shells down range and no issues. The most fun shutgun I've shot. Heavy shutgun, but very soft on the recoil (manageable), considering typical shurgun.

No, I haven't shot a DP-12. I've got a KSG and I'm sold on the bulpup design for shotguns. I love how it's just marginally longer than my 870 AOW, yet holds 14 rounds vs. 4, haha!
