There is also the fact that the boxes have been opened. Once you open them the label is damaged. If I was to buy ammo at the gun shows, I would only buy unopened boxes. There is also the headstamp issue. Going to put cheap federals in a CCI box and call it minimag? I hope people are more educated than this. And then if you already have ammo to sell, why would you need a box to put it in? The prepper thing makes more sense, since the minimag boxes fit exactly 8x2 (1600) in a .30cal can. But I can now fit 2500 in the same space by vacuum sealing them in 100ct. loose packs.

About the label being damaged... All you need is a Hair Dryer to make the label peel off without it being damaged. We do this all the time at work for shipping labels that are stuck on a box wrong, and that's on a corrugated cardboard box. Half the time you don't need to heat it up if it's on a slick surface cardboard box and I would bet it would be a lot easier heating it up on a plastic sleeve to peel it off too.

But I'm still not 100% sure why empty sleeves are selling for so much. Scammers or Preppers either one is a damn good guess.

True... didn't think about that. I've heard about them on Ebay but haven't looked for them myself yet. Puzzling to say the least.

I was VERY specific about WHERE they would be sold:

Gunshows, Armslist and Gunbroker where flippers are flipping at 2X, 3X and even 4X what they paid.

Spread it out over used sleeves - and you can flip the contents of:

CCI Standard Velocity 1600 Round Ammo Box
CCI Mini-Mag CPLRN 1600 Round Ammo Box
CCI Mini-Mag CPLHP 1600 Round Ammo Box

There you can make a real killing - IF - and that's a big if - IF - you actually have those bulk products.


Small CCI Example:

Joe Blow buys CCI Standard Velocity 500 Brick for 44.99.

He buys 5 x CCI Standard Velocity Sleeves for 15.00.

Total Cost = 55.99


He sells each sleeve for 20.00 at a gun show to desperate people who just need ammo and could care less about opened sleeve rather than pay the person at the next booth 30.00 per sleeve unopened.

Revenue = 100.00

100.00 - 55.99 = 44.01

=8-)

Don't the Minimags already come sleeved in the 1600 round cans?? ; That's exactly how many sleeves fit in a .30cal can. Seems to me if you have the cans as purchased, you could make an even better killing without having to open the sleeves. Now the armslist, gunbroker thing could be a chance to get over on someone with the bait and switch with bogus ammo in a minimag sleeve. Unless I missed something. Anyway, I just got rid of 5 more minimags boxes yesterday for $10.50 and 6 more Winchester red boxes for 12.50. Not as good as the first two listings but the law of averages being what it is...... $7.99 ea box with the ammo when I bought them, now figure 2.00 off the cost of each now. Takes it down to about .05-.06/rd and still 20 more boxes to sell. That's almost bulk cost for high demand ammo.

Its not. But people get all excited when they see CCI in the jewel boxes. Its perceived value. And in reality the boxes are extremely fragile and prone to cracking. They are made out of the same plastic as CD cases.
