    Black powder rules in California

    Hi,

Can I have a black powder pistol shipped directly to my house? I have seen online vendors refusing to do this.

Yes you can but some vendors are scared of California forever changing rules. I collect black powder myself and have most vendors ship to me. If a vendor will not ship I have always contacted them and changed their minds politely and have them keep my e-mail as proof they were told it was legal. There are a lot of neat originals to bid on as I am doing now.

Unless something has changed it is legal to have a BP firearm sent directly to you. Cabelas used to do it but since the state has gotten little more crazy probably turned a bunch of sellers off.
I seem to recall the inline BP rifles are considered modern but not 100% sure.

Yes - as long as it won't take a cartridge - such as a 45LC conversion cylinder.

        (C) any muzzle loading rifle, muzzle loading shotgun, or muzzle loading pistol, which is designed to use black powder, or a black powder substitute, and which cannot use fixed ammunition. For purposes of this subparagraph, the term “antique firearm” shall not include any weapon which incorporates a firearm frame or receiver, any firearm which is converted into a muzzle loading weapon, or any muzzle loading weapon which can be readily converted to fire fixed ammunition by replacing the barrel, bolt, breechblock, or any combination thereof.

There's also October Country out of Idaho, Muzzle-loaders.com out of Oregon and Powderhornsandmore, to buy or make your own horn.
