Need an opinion: Noveske N4 Recon Gen 1

Can any Noveske experts tell me why the Noveske N4 Recon Rifle is significantly cheaper than other Noveske rifles?

Just guessing. Not in stock and never will be again?

I think Gen 1s were discontinued awhile ago but I could be wrong, starting with gen2s they had flared magwells, gen3s seem to be the most popular, and they’re on gen4s now. I bought my basic gen1 years ago, great shooter I still have it and get sub-MOA groups. I don’t really follow Noveske much so unsure how true this is but over on the AR forums they keep saying years ago the brand was great before the owner passed, and since has become more of a expensive boutique brand. Once again just the opinions I read on the forums, and you know opinions on forums, take with a grain of salt.

I have an opportunity to purchase one, relatively cheap, especially compared to other Noveske rifles; hence, the answer.

Besides its availability/discontinued etc, is it cheaper just because it is Gen 1, i.e. older model?

It's cheaper because that was the price when it was discontinued and went out of stock probably years ago.

So as the new rifles were released with higher prices, or shipping products went through price increases, the discontinued models did not get a price increase - because why?

This makes sense... so, there is nothing wrong with the rifle, it is just old stock/model

I have this rifle. It is a forged upper and lower receiver set vs machined from billet with the new gen.

That is the major difference in price besides other specs.

                Thank you!

Would you recommend getting this rifle at almost 50% price compared to the latest versions?

It’s been said, forged is stronger, billet looks prettier.

It’s the same barrel, bolt and the furniture hardly makes a difference functionally. I went with stronger.

I am not known to buy for looks. Choose your poison.

I should speak on this, but let’s see what people say on this... so much FUD on the forums these days. RIP John Noveske

It's good to go, just more "basic" than their other offerings.

i think it was the recce i was eyeing back then. i've saw it have the troy flip-up sights (branded noveske from pics) and i've seen a model with the vltor emod stock. this was eons ago. can't recall if the grip was moe/miad back then. i think chrome lined barrel too. above 2k though.. probably 2.1 or 2.2k

I have a gen 1 Noveske “light recce” and it was my first ar. Those were the basic ones; triangle front sight and a2 style hand guards. All the functional bits are the same. Forged lower, chrome lined barrel, etc. I’m not that keen on the newer gens (post John N mostly) but I can say gen 1 is rock solid.
