    Dark Earth vs. Black AR

    Hi,

I was wondering if having a Dark Earth colored AR would be better in combat or is it just preference? My AR will be black, but I have options of getting a dark earth UBR, pistol grip, front pistol grip, rail panels...

I guess I just want to know if people just have half dark earth/black AR's because it looks nice or because it gives any visual benefits in the field...

    Thanks

combat ? what combat ? ar vs paper ?

i belive its just preferance unless you do 3 gun , and in the summer the guns get HOT specialy if they are hot, or if your out in BLM land and such during the summer guns get hot, so tan color, not so much.

A black weapon sticks out on the battlefield like a sore thumb. Any color scheme that breaks up the appearance of the weapon is a beneficial. If you wanted to be tactical it should match your environment and the clothing you would be wearing. Dark Earth is a good start. Black is not a natural color.

      -My 2 cents

Depends on if you're fighting in an urban setting or not. In most metropolitan cities, black IS a natural color. Tire rubber, pavement, harsh shadows, alleys, concrete. You get the picture.

My question is a hypothetical which could apply to military weapons or SHTF situation. Thank you for your input on the matter though.

So getting to the point... In multiple different settings such as urban/forest/desert would it be better to have a broken up rifle that is dark earth/black? I know it depends on the colors around you, but I am not about to buy a different colored rifle for every region.

As far as I know, mall ninja outfits only come in black. Accessorize accordingly.

Buy a black rifle and then spray paint it when the zombies attack!

I have both black and FDE. I like my FDE the best. Just my taste.

                  Agreed 100%.

No matter what the enviroment a black anything will stand out next to a propperly camoflaged object for its enviroment..... Unless its pitch black out on a moonless night.

As far as I know urban camo patterns are not black.

any single color will standout, if your gun is 2 or 3 tone, it wont stand out as much if its a single colored rifle.

of course if it matches your outfit and the surrounding environment, it would be better.

The rejected urban MARPAT has black in it, but it's not dominant. The previous urban camo also had black.

in a urban environment at night, red would be the best color because thats the first part of the light spectrum that disperses in the dark.. black stands out alot in the dark for some reason. especially in the city or when the moon is out. Unless its in your coat or bag, then theres no need for it to be black cause its hidden.

but if you have a red gun during the day.. your screwed beyond belief lol.. you'll be the first person someone shoots at.
