My dad sold all of his guns before I was born. GRRRR! He did give me a bunch of odd caliber ammo and talks about all the cool stuff he had. I think he hates me.

Be a good son and listen to your dad. Shoot it. Preferably with him there at the range with you. That's why the guys in CT made it in the first place. If for some reason you sell it 800 is too low for a combat elite. A beat 1991 commands that in ca

a little update... didn't realize it was a year ago almost to the day

so far she's had 2 range trips... and is a tack driver...

i started doing a little more research, and found some really cool stuff.

Apparently this is 1 of 500 original Custom Shop Combat Elites... the distinguishing features are the "CG" serial without an "E" at the end, as well as an ambi safety. It also has a Pachmayr Grip and Slide Catch Lever

whats really cool is that the serial is really low... in the 30's. So she's one of the first Combat Elites.

I just added a WC beavertail... going to upgrade the sights and GR... nothing permanent.

Thanks for all that advice a year ago!

Nice gun. You have a few options on sights if you dont want to do any permanent mods to your gun.

Explore handgun parts (1,435) at Brownells, including slides, barrels, and triggers to repair, upgrade, or customize your handgun for improved performance.

Either of those would be a big upgrade over the factory rear sight and they don't require cutting the slide.

Thanks. I really want to replace the front sight, more so than the rear. Just something a little brighter.. not necessarily a huge F/O sight but something with easier/faster acquisition.

Your best bet would be to send it to novak and have them cut a dovetail for the front sight. This way your possibilities are endless for the front sight.

Now that you have worn that piece of junk out, you should sell it to me! LOL!
Wish my Dad had give me such a cool pistol. Keep it, shoot it, enjoy it and then pass it on to your children, make it a family keep sake! Then it will be a priceless family heirloom.

before i got into guns, he had given up hope with me... sold a triple serial p226 (i got the p229), a colt commander gold cup... 2 colt sporters (i got the 3rd on a mega lower), and probably 5 more pistols...

when i got into guns, he got back in as well.... in full force...

hardest part for me is i have 3 boys and a girl. so theres ginna be some fighting! only doubles i have are the 10/22 takedowns i bought for my oldests (twins) for when they get old enough

thanks for reminding me... i have a para gov't that needs a new front sight staked.

i will likely keep it simple on the colt and just get a basic night sight or f/o staked.
