    That’s cool brother.
I grew up on 1911’s, but I also know that Glocks and H&K’s are just more durable and reliable weapons.
There were a couple of advantages that made me change ( and I carried 1911’s in my early days - colts and a star pd ).

Curious what type of shooting did you do?

If static range shooting agreed except the 1911/2011 trigger is easier to shoot 25 to 150 yards, but that is a user skill issue.

If moving and shooting wirh transitions on a timer a stacatto is much eaiser vs g17. Not worth the price or the maintenance but easier.

I had two. Sold them still compete with a p365xl

Have you tried the "Gen 5" 10-round mags?

LE gets 20% off from Staccato, and right now gets $800 off when they purchase the new HD.

My workout partner (LAPD) is getting a HD for $1700 but doesn't know if he wants to keep it since he's a M&P guy

Also agree the price is stupid. Used to be able to get STI for about $2,700.
Cost of upgrading STi/staccato to have a metal grip and better trigger and higher angle manual safety levers puts the cost higher, closer to 2011 that already have those features from the smith.

$2.7k for on roster staccato is way better than $4-5k previously for the off roster staccato.

I tried the 4 and 4.5 HD and the triggers out of the box were “ok”.

Girsan just introduced a 2011 9mm race gun that will sell for less than $999. It will be very interesting to see what the reviews are like. I doubt EAA will work to get it on the roster, but it'll also be interesting to see if it brings the crazy prices of 2011's down.

its been possible to get an STi off roster ppt or in consignment counters in the Bay Area for sub $2k for the last few years, but that hasn’t stopped people from buying $4k off roster staccatos (despite STi being made by staccato, before they decided to pivot away from competitive shooters towards police)

my sense is the high cost and name recognition is part of the appeal. Buyers can then “flex” on social media that they bought something expensive

It was the new Magnum PI's choice of handgun. Or at least, the STI was. LOL. Just something I noted. Doesn't make it more or less cool to me. Just watch a lot of TV.

Given their price I am grateful I have not caught that bug. I did catch the Gucci Glock customization bug and between that the night vision bug it's been plenty expensive enough. Don't me wrong. They are very cool guns. If I were in the market and price were no object, they'd be on the shopping list. But there are a few guns not in the collection that I have wanted for a long while i would probably buy before them. For example, I have yet to get a Gen 5 MOS Glock. I also have yet to own a Wilson Combat CQB Rail 1911. Although, if it were on the roster my dream 1911 would be a full size railed 1911 from Ed Brown. I had the opportunity to meet the family that owns that company and adored them. They are so nice, and their guns are amazing. Needless to say, the roster is frustrating.

Magnum carried a 2011 STI Costa Comp (apparently).

Heavy bank. Some Concord PD officers carry those.

I picked my Bul SAS II 4.25" and Platypus over my Staccato C2. C2's is clunky and not well put together compared to the other two. Eventually, I sold the Platypus, but I will likely pick up a Platypus Gen 2 later.

The XC has a much lesser muzzle rise between my Staccato XC and Atlas Athena, but the Athena has a better return to zero. I still have both of them.

I also picked the Staccato CS over the Bul Ultralight, but only because the Gen 1 Ultralight's grip is a bit too slick for me.

I don't know if there will be another Staccato in the future. The Platypus is likely a better gun for me than the new HD.

Stacattos are not race guns, STI had raceguns. The old STI's are much better built than the new Stacatto's. Stacatto will be trying to enter back into the competition world instead of the LEO/Tactical world.
