Who or what is Staccato? Country of manufacture? History and/or reputation?

You must not be on the forums that much, it's all everyone was talking about a year ago. Still very popular and expensive pistols. https://staccato2011.com/

Ok. Went to their website. Finally found their "About" section. Texas company used to be called STI. Looks like it is privately owned but that's not clear. Started with a product called the 2011. Changed the company name to Staccato but I don't know when. I've never seen one of their products or known anyone that owns one. That's not a criticism; just by way of explaining my ignorance about them.

I have two gun friends who bought them and paid $4k to $5k for them. I shot one, I didn't get it, AT ALL. To me, the 2011 platform is stupid, there are much better double stack platforms and the 1911 is a great platform. The 2011 platform bastardizes the 1911 platform and makes it stupid, big, heavy and expensive. I still don't get it. They are nicely built but IMHO, massively overpriced. Rant over. Other than a nicer build, I don't find it any "better" than my G17, a big ole double stack 9mm that costs 10% of the cost of a Staccato. Guess I'm just not enlightened about 2011s?

Law Enforcement are going to have to work OT instead of price gouge citizens for their side gigs soon. All the roster additions have been awesome.

Theyre race guns, and they are awesome.

Overpriced is subjective, but for the “off roster” premium price gougings I would certainly agree they are massively overpriced.

If I trusted 10 round Glock mags, I'd be very interested in the HD (which is what's supposedly coming). But I don't, so I'm not.

Thanks for the candid comments, Capybara. I'm not a 1911 or 2011 guy, so that explains some of my ignorance about this company and zero interest in their products. I'm into DA/SA 9mms......Sig, Beretta, Walther, HK.

I didn't even know they were race guns, shows my level of interest in them. Choice is a wonderful thing, especially for us behind enemy lines so I don't begrudge my fellow shooters if they want to drop $5k on a pistol. Neither of my friends who have them have ever shot competitively so for them, I think it's just a status symbol. Not my cup of tea. I just shot an hour ago and on the way out from the range, walking through the ranges gun store, they did have a new H&K VP9L. I held the regular VP9 and the VP9L and man, that is a pistol I am excited about! I guess that just reinforces, different strokes...

Well... there are people that dont mind mushy dry sponge triggers on striker fired guns...

And people that like a tuned up 1911 trigger.

Also agree the price is stupid. Used to be able to get STI for about $2,700.

Source for rumor is not even reputable rumor source for Staccato to be put in roster. Image which claimed Ammo Bro.
In my experience Staccato is very fine high end gun. Very accurate and very dependable since they switched from “race” to “duty”. Mags are very expensive $80 and upgraded mags are $120 a pop.
Since general culture swings from good guns to cheap
plastic guns, all metal guns loosing “grip” with general public. People prefer to pay cheap instead of good and the difference is measured in “times” (I do not care your Glock is perfect, it is never going to be 1911 or 2011 or even 226/220).

I have some 1911’s ( Nighthawk & Wilson ), but prefer the Glock / H&K Family of firearms. The 1911 / 2011 have their own sop’s when it comes to durability and reliability, and are not as reliable as the Glock and / or H&K’s.
Larry Vickers speaks about the “ extra “ care that the 1911 / 2011 needs to be a functional weapon.
I have no hate on the 1911 system but I also must admit that there are certain things / maintenance that one must take, that the Glock / H&K just handles much better.

I took a class with Larry years ago. He is a 1911 armorer, and he told me at this point, the 1911 is a hobbyist weapon. IT takes too much work to get them to run right and stay running well.
