I remember seeing a video on youtube a few years ago about a 1911 with a mag disconnect safety, it was made by either Browning or Charles Daly.
The trigger had a simple piece of metal on the back of it that locked up against the magazine release and prevented it from being pulled unless a magazine was in the pistol.
No idea of the stupid DOJ would accept something like that though, they probably want a minimum of three parts or something added to make a MDS.
Over on reddit, Ammo Bros said Rost Martin, FN, SIG, and Springfield all had pistols rejected by the CA DOJ in the last couple months.
The Echelon passed the safety testing a few weeks ago but was denied because the CLI wasn't "big enough".
Springfield is going to appeal but that can take who knows how long, if the DOJ denies the current CA Compliant Echelon the new-new CA Compliant Echelon with slightly larger CLI won't be submitted until 2025
