Recommend a Handgun Safety Course for CCW, Alameda County

My CCW application through the Alameda County Sheriff’s is now to the stage that I need to choose the Handgun Safety Course. They sent me a list of ten to choose from.
If you have gone through this, do you have a recommendation?

Paladin Tactical is a great choice. Their firearms instruction and legal are top notch. They also offer tactical classes using airsoft at a Marin shoot house.

I used bay area tactical just because they offered the most classes and their class schedule worked for me

LEO Defensive Concepts is solid and it has excellent instructors.

Bay Area Tactical is a basic no frills course required for the CCW. It’s a 16 hours CCW course is broken up in 3 classes, easy to schedule the classes. The initial class is 5 hours at the San Leandro Davis Street Range. The 2 class is a zoom class, and the 3rd class is to qualify and is either at the San Leandro Range or a private range in Livermore.

What I liked is their scheduling is flexible and they have multi classes per week vs the other guys which schedule two courses per month and we’re sold out for April.

BAT were also flexible to work with what equipment you have. 200 rounds are needed for the course, and they will allow reloaded ammo if you choose (saves cost, and other hassles with locating and buying ammo). The other classes are firm on requirements to use factory ammo.

Holsters is another area of flexibility, with the exception of no Serpa or shoulder holsters for the training class. All CCW trainers require a OWB holster for the course, and one guy wanted everyone to have Kydex. This is an issue if you plan to qualify with multiple guns and you don’t yet have an idea how or what you wish to carry with. BAT allowed the use of a basic non CCW OWB holster that I had just to get through the course.

          I would recommend BAT.
