I really don't think it should be/will be an issue. The serialized frame is still a Glock 48 frame, so your gun is just a Glock 48 with a 43x slide on it. Similarly, if I slap a 17 slide on my 34, as much as it would look identical to a Glock 17, it's still a Glock 34 with a 17 slide and barrel. If you're overly concerned about it feel free to reach out to LASD and confirm.

That being said, it would be helpful if you reported your experience (timeline, good cause, etc.) going through the CCW process thus far in the LA County CCW thread here: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...52761&page=221

        Keep in mind that...

AFS lists the pistol's make, model, caliber, and barrel length.
^When a CA LEO runs the pistol's serial number, the above info will come up, along with the registered owner's info.

Modifying a Glock 48 into a Glock 43X will change the pistol's original barrel length and will cause a discrepancy in the AFS record for the Glock 48.

Some issuing agency's require the handguns they approve to exactly match the handgun's AFS record and it not matching may cause the handgun to be disapproved for carry/treated as an unapproved handgun.
^You need to find out if this is an issue with your issuing agency, prior to modifying the handguns listed on your carry permit.

Did this in San Diego County as I initially bought the 48 and later purchased a 43x slide and wanted to be able to swap between them. The CCW clerk just said to use the serial number on the frame and putting Glock as the make. Didn’t have to qualify with both either, as they’re the same caliber.

The only “issue” is the slide states “48,” or “43x.” It adds confusion to a non pro-2A cop, DA or judge when the serial number return in the state’s AFS database says that serial number is strictly registered to a Glock “48.”

Let us know the outcome of your court case after you use the gun in self defense.

OP, if you happen to have holsters for carrying in either configuration, carry each config around the house for a while. I have a 48 MOS and a 43X, and for whatever reason, I find I like carrying the 48 more than the 43X. Give them both a try.
