    Good Cause Statement

I'm in L.A. applying to the LASD. EDITED, NEW GC statement based on feedback:

I am the owner of XXXXXXXX, a roadside assistance and Locksmith Service that offers service all over the county which quite often includes neighborhoods with higher violent crime rates and rural areas with longer response times for law enforcement. I have to work late at night. I often have to carry large amounts of cash. I routinely have to make deposits at ATM's. I transport desirable tools designed to defeat security systems, automobiles, business, and home locks. I believe I'm at greater risk for theft and violent attack due to my profession and the locations I work in.

I am also a studio musician. On studio days I transport between 3000 and 10,000 dollars worth of valuable vintage and boutique musical equipment. I believe I'm at greater risk for theft and violent attack due to my profession.

One of my hobbies is camping. I believe I'm at greater risk for wild animal attacks due to hiking/camping in remote locations.

In addition the number of reported robberies and violent crimes in downtown Los Angeles, and the area where I live
(adjacent to downtown) has increased. On my street alone, XXXXX Xnd St has been raided by the police twice, with the occupants fleeing through my back yard and hiding in my bushes. And xxxxxx St, has been used as an illegal dispensary and after-hours night club with people coming and going at all hours. When I made contact with the LAPD Rampart detectives about the crime and violence I was seeing right across the street from my house, they sympathized but informed me that their hands were tied, do to cashless bail and the cities enforcement priorities. I believe I'm at greater risk for theft and violent attack due to the location I live in.

I am requesting a CCW license because I am regularly at fear for my safety in these environments.

Say because you are, "at greater risk for theft and violent attack due to your profession and the locations you work in."

I suspect they will tell you that you are asking for a CCW for business purposes and deny you accordingly. They will tell you that for your business, you need to hire security and adopt safer practices for your cash management.

You might want to focus solely on the personal safety aspect and leave your business out if it.

          Good luck.

I like to do motorcycle camping. the most remote place I've camped is outside of California for sure. But recently it's been places like Big Bear, or Big Sur. So if they ask for specifics I don't know that, that is remote enough for them

              Sounds good.

Add receipts, pictures, toll costs, camping permits, etc to supplement what you wrote.

I would leave your hobbies out, its irrelevant of wanting a CCW. Give examples, instead of writing you may believe....try saying on such and such date and time, my vehicle was damaged probably for my valuable goods....etc or one night on such and such time i felt I would have been a victim of a robbery if wasnt for .........etc. back up your threat with examples...IMHO Good luck.

^ This is what I was going to comment on OP's earlier post. Don't list hobbies, if you camp just state the location and provide with proof, photos, receipts, etc..., even better if you could provide incidents/news of wild animal attacks and/or sightings around your camping areas.

And yes, don't start your sentence with I believe, just state that you are at greater risk/violent attack because of your work location/worse part of town. Be specific but not too wordy. Again, be ready to provide proof.

Careful on the using "at camp" as a reason since in many areas, your camp is considered similar to a temporary home and a permit it not needed. Similarly, for those going fishing with a fishing license. IANAL-JAGOTI.

If you have documentable work related good cause, use it. That's a slam dunk under current good cause standards.

                              Slam dunk? In LA? Doubtful.
