Seems you have a problem reading.
They are not ignoring the new law.
There was a misinterpretation of the new law so some folks were allowed to renew without qualifying in 2019.
Folks that renewed in 2020 were required to qualify. Some even got calls to do so after their CCW was renewed and in their hands.
Do you even have a CCW in San Bernardino?

      Hi all, quick question.

I received a call for my class this week but im confused about the total cost. I could have sworn she told me to bring a MO for $201.80 but when i read the inital CCW instructions on the Sheriff Website there is an SBSD range fee of $112 and final fee of $126.40. Can anyone verify the correct amount to bring?

      Thanks.

They told me to bring a money order for 201.80 and disregard what the paperwork said.

The fees I see posted are for 2021 applications.

Hello, quick question for those renewing this year. I expire Mar 30th and usually have received a renewal letter by now. Just curious if anyone has renewed recently and how was the process? I did email SBCOSB and they said wait for the renewal email. Just wondering if anyone has got a renewal by email.

              Thank you,

              Jay

You can renew 90 days out. This was a specific question I asked during class.

Not only can you. You should. This should give them plenty of time to do what they need to do.

That was my first action and so far it does not have any of the updated information since the pandemic. It still has the instructions from pre pandemic. it even has a schedule in person classes up to June 2020. The site does not mention anything new after that.

                              CCW Process Just Started

                              Greetings!

I have just completed the online application form at the SB County website and scheduled my initial interview for the middle of March 2021. As I read all the info at https://wp.sbcounty.gov/sheriff/ccw-faq/ I'm trying to put together the timeline and have all the paperwork, the postal money orders, etc, all ready at the proper time.

                              As I understand it:

                              1) I'm to fill out all the forms, have one of them notarized, gather requested documents, and bring them to my initial interview with a couple of postal money orders.

                              2) Then I will be scheduled an 8 hour training course at the SB County Sheriff's range where I will bring two more postal money orders.

                              3) Once I complete the class and qualify on the range I sign on the dotted line, get finger printed, then just wait to see if I am sent a CCW permit.

Is that about it? Is there a more comprehensive timeline of this process somewhere?

                              Thank you for your indulgence,

                              BassCliff

                                Close but no cigar.

When you go to the interview make sure you have photo copies of all your paperwork.

If you pass the interview process you will give them your MO's and do the livescan. They will tell you don't call them they'll call you.

You will go home and wait for them to call you. At that time they will schedule you for your training. You will now wait for the day you go to the training.

When you go to the training you will give them the last of the MO's and do the class and range time. At the end of the class they will tell you not to carry until you get your permit in the mail.

You will now go home and wait for your permit in the mail. Once your permit comes you will now carry everywhere it's legal to carry.

From what I've been seeing it's about an 8-10 process right now.

Have a good day and carry on.

                                (Once you get your permit)
