Last time I checked the SCSO website, shortly after SB2 passed, it looked like they were going to add a list of instructors, so I'm glad they changed their minds. I hope the wheels turn slowly and they haven't figured it out before it's time for my renewal.

Recently, the regulation for certification was amended to allow broader participation. If approved in the next few weeks, more training opportunities should be available.

I recently did my renewal in Sacramento County. Only took them 2 days, from the time I submitted my paperwork, until they issued my updated permit. They do only issue on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I submitted on a Tuesday. Also Sacramento has started to issue the drivers license style permits. Name, photo and information on the front. Guns and fingerprint on the back. Much nicer than the stupid paper ones you had to fold.

New resident here in Sacramento County, got my California Real ID, utility bill all sorted out, so established residency. How's the process? Long and drawn out or fairly straightforward just following their instructions? Thanks!

Good question!! I'd like to know too, since I'll be renewing in Aug.

Edited to Add: I just read this on SSD's CCW page FAQs (IDK if it's still in effect, though):

" 12. How many guns can I list on my CCW permit?

There is a maximum of three handguns allowed on a CCW permit. Effective January 1, 2024, you may only legally carry two firearms at one time."

Any updates to CCW renewal times? Been a while since i've been on Calguns, but it seems like a ghost town lol. This thread used to be updated regularly and had lots of current info in the past, what happened?

License was to expire 22 Feb 2025.
16 Jan: Submitted application and all docs except firearms.
16 Jan: Received notice that some docs were illegible and needed resubmittal. Sent them. Confirmed references are NOT needed for renewal.
20 Jan: Received notice to submit both training cert and Instructor Cert.
20 Jan: Advised them that training was scheduled.
                        26 Jan: Completed Training.
28 Jan: SSD reminded me that application was incomplete and pending.
03 Feb: uploaded training documents (I was planning on holding them until the expiry date to maximize the license, but was going out of town).
03 Feb: Notified of approval and pick-up dates.
                        04 Feb: Picked up license.

Sacramento County has updated the range qualifications effective the beginning of March 2025. It is now 35 rounds.

                            Target is 12” x 16”, so a bit larger than a legal size paper (8.5” x 14”).
                            80% to qualify (28 hits)
Instructor establishes “reasonable” time limits and stance/grip requirements.

Where in SB2 is there a live fire time limit? Where is there a National Historical Tradition requiring completion of a live fire requirement in order to be able to carry a firearm in public?

60 day grace period. Some unfortunate family news is going to force me to miss my current planned renewal date and go past my expiration date. Is it the same process if you are in the 60 day grace period? Or is it a different process?
