Do you have documentation which prohibits their use?
The statute never prohibited use; it prohibited manufacturing, importation into the state, keeping, offering or exposing for sale, or giving, lending, buying or receiving LCMs. The statute is still on the books, but enforcement of the possession prohibition and the requirement to dispose of the LCMs have been enjoined pending appeal.
So, right now, possession is legal. Usage has never been prohibited.
IAs can place restrictions on equipment authorized, and Orange County Sheriff provides this policy guidance:MAGAZINE CAPACITY
The CCW license does not define magazine capacity, just the firearm model, serial number, and caliber. If the magazine and firearm are legal to possess in the State of California, and the firearm is approved to be listed on the license, a CCW permit holder may carry.- California firearms laws/regulations are subject to change. It is the responsibility of the owner/applicant to ensure the firearm and magazine are in compliance with California law at the time of carry.
- Any violations or failure to adhere to state laws/regulations will result in immediate suspension and/or revocation of license.
Sac Sheriff has not provided specific guidance, (historically, the Sheriff has published limited direction to CCW holders) but in conversations with issuing officers over the past few years, the position has universally been, “Why wouldn’t you”?.
Two examples of erroneous LCM confiscation after the Court action were discussed here. Both individuals were cleared and property returned.
Re rifles: You should not put LCMs in fixed-mag semiautomatic centerfire rifles. Nothing to do with the legality of the magazines, but the combination.30515.(a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:[]
(2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
Usual caveats: IANAL; YMMV. Your Life; Your Dice…Roll ‘em.Last edited by Dvrjon; 04-19-2023, 10:10 AM.Comment

TL;DR: Yes.

Just hit my EMail account:SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
JIM COOPER

CCW Permit Holders
Sacramento County
Subject: Firearms on CCW Permits
Dear Sacramento County CC W Holder:
It is our commitment to our Sacramento County CCW Permit holders to continue to improve the CCW permitting process. We monitor the latest legislation and comply with the laws to ensure that each applicant is a qualified candidate and issued a CCW Permit.
The latest legislation, Senate Bill 2 (SB 2), 2023, has passed the Senate Appropriations Committee. I anticipate that this will very soon become law. Fortunately, as a Sacramento County CCW Permit holder, we currently employ many of the requirements of SB 2 such as the required 16 hours of training. This bill will require that all firearms must be registered to the CCW Permit holder. Other laws allow that the firearm may be registered to their spouse. We will continue to check every firearm to ensure it is properly registered.
We continually monitor legislative mandates and apply changes in the processing of CCW Permits as directed by law.
Thank you for being a concerned citizen and a responsible CC W Permit holder.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the CCW Unit at 916-874-8450 or by e-mail at ccw@sacsheriff.com.
Sincerely,
JIM COOPER, SHERIFF
Chief Deputy Todd Thiessen

Hi there-
Just wondering what the turnaround time would be for modifying current CCW License in specific adding an additional firearm? I turned in required paperwork including training certs on 4/13 and still haven't heard anything regarding this. Checking on Permitum, it states they are still assigning to a processor. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!Comment

Long time lurker, first time poster.
Application 6/24/22
Interview 9/28/22
Livescan 9/28/22
CA complete 9/28/22
FBI complete 9/28/22
Firearms complete 9/30/22
CCW Class 11/5-11/6 (don't have any time to do it sooner)
Issued 11/15
Process was super straight forward, Livescan appointment took longer than the SSD interview. I was very surprised the firearms check only took 2 days based on some of the previous responded, though if it's a manual check - might have helped that I purchased my CCW firearm at the end of 2020.

Picked up 11/16
Everyone was super friendly along the way!
If anyone cares about the big costs:
CCW with SSD: $226
Livescan: $135

Hello calguns people, I'm new here and thinking about applying myself after I get some more rounds down the range. About proof of residency tho, do anyone know if they'll accept an FFL 03/COE as proof of residency? I also have a real ID and could easily get a sports fishing license. I have an xfinity bill in my name also but the LGS didn't accept it when I bought my first gun so I used a fishing license. Thanks ahead of time for any info.Last edited by Wuzup916; 05-06-2023, 12:43 AM.Comment

The Best Practice is to follow Sac Sheriff instructions:
US Residency
If you were not born in the United States you will be required to upload verification that you are here in the US legally by uploading to your application:
Naturalization Certificate
Resident Alien Card (be sure to upload the back side showing the expiration date, if applicable).
Valid US Passport
Certificate of Birth Abroad
Proof of Residency
When submitting an application for a NEW, RENEWAL or Address MODIFICATION, all applicants will be required to upload the following:
All proofs of residency must include your home address (we do not accept P.O. Boxes as addresses!) You will need to scan two (2) items for proof of residency.
The proofs of residency must be at least the entire first page of the bill, including the tear-off, mail-out portion so we can view both the location of service and the address where the bill is mailed and ensure there is no past due balance.
The proofs of residency must be dated within the last 60 days. We DO NOT accept overdue bills. We also do not accept documents from DMV, lease/rental agreements, tax bills, nor insurance policy statements. If your bills/statements are not delivered to your residence, please go ONLINE and print out a copy of the actual bill/statement and upload them into your application by following the procedure to ADD FILES.
Acceptable proof of residency must be a MONTHLY bill such as:
Utility bill
Bank statement
Cell phone bill
Credit card statement
Mortgage statement
Upload a copy of your valid California driver?s license or ID.Comment

Renewal class done a week before.
Submitted all docs and paid 5/8/2023 in the morning.
As of today 5/18/2023 my renewal still hasn't been assigned to a processor.
Not sure what is going on right now, but in the last decade I have never seen my app take this long to be assigned a processor.Comment

For some reason I am not having the same time frame as you. Which in the past this thread has been a great indicator on time frame.

so I did find out something, because mine was stuck on "waiting to be assigned to processor" too, so I called 916-874-8450 and the guy said the instructor I took the requal from had an outdated qual form, they changed the form in March, he fixed it and it was ready to pickup that day.Maybe that will help you.
