A firearm may be legal to possess in California and NOT approved to list on the CCW. The department is currently not adding firearms that are listed as “0” caliber as well as showing registered as frame only. Thank you for your understanding”

how would I be able to register this as not a frame only? Go to an FFL and do ppw on it?
Take to a pawn shop and pawn it. Return the next day and pay the pawn fees and they can DROS the complete gun to you. Pick up 10 days later. Check with the shop to ensure they know how to do this.

Well that sucks about renewals. Mine expires in 3 weeks and it's only 46 days into renewal submission LOL. Welp, I guess I'll be without a permit for a few months.

Yup. The approval pace is 100+ days currently.

OCSD website says it's in the process of migrating to a new site for CCW process until 10/24. How's everyone turning in their new and renewal applications?

Likely, everything is delayed by a week or longer, if their migration goes off the track.

I am thinking if I will apply to renew. I had to apply three times and sue OC to get my ccw, which was only issued when the department sent me to an objective psychologist. She passed me with flying colors, but I have no doubt that I would have gotten a screwed if I was again sent to the same shrink to whom I was sent on the first two applications. If renewal is denied I will pay the cost of taming the OC Sheriff again to court and that I will prevail, but is it worth it. I could never figure out why the first two appliacations were denied for lack of good moral character, but now I now, I have the evidence and am ready to take names.

Chewy65 Can you elaborate more on the psych eval....how was it unfair? Did you get any information on how it was inconsistent or unreliable? Just wondering what the process is for OCSD.

And do they require psych evals for all renewals? new applications? or both?

OCSD doesn't typically send everyone to shrink. Then again Chewy65 won a lawsuit against OCSD, right? Why would they want to get into the hot waters with him again?

So now that OCSD's new web application is up and running, is anyone getting correspondence from OCSD about their applications or renewals? I logged in to the new app, as per the instructions in the email they sent last week, but have not heard anything since. The app says something like "pending review"?

I just started renewal on the new site. It made me put driver license then I got pending review. My license expires march so I have time.

My renewal is now within 120 days but I'm stuck in limbo at the moment. After OCSD's migration from Permitium to the CCWPro platform, got an email to set up a new account in CCWPro. When you do that, it asks for a list of biographical data to match up your old account in Permitium. It also asks for you to upload copies of your CCW license and CADL. Once I did that, it said that a "match" was found. That put me into "Pending Review" status for my new account on CCWPro. I cannot do anything with the account until the department reviews my account. I did that on 10/29 and nothing changed so I called the licensing department. The very nice lady informed me that there is a predictable backlog for the migration of accounts to the new platform. She said that the IT department is still working on it. Once I told her that I'd already set up the new account and the system found a "match", she confirmed that it someone in licensing has to physically review the "match". She said it's going to take time and they have no estimate whatsoever of how long it might take. She did not know if it would be done before my license expires in February. She helpfully said that they would still treat my renewal application as a renewal even if it goes overtime (no carry after expiration though). However, I cannot even apply for my renewal until my new account gets reviewed and approved. Not great news out of Orange County at the moment. Crossing my fingers they get it sorted out soon.

I started my renewal on 8/15/2024 on the Permitium system. Heard nothing at all from OCSD until the email came out about CCWPro being on line, so I set up my account there on 10/29, and the system found a match. Now almost 2 weeks later it still says "pending review."

Has anyone with an in-process application heard anything since CCWPro went on line?

The system conversion is a bit frustrating and the delay is unfortunate but I am still really grateful that in OC we have a Sheriff and department that supports our 2A rights. Its always been my experience that they handle licensing in a very professional manner. Hopefully they will work through their system conversion issues soon.

I'm only 80 days into my renewal. License expired 10/06 actually. Applied 10/29 for the new system. Now I'm just waiting in line behind you guys.

My permit expired the middle of October. Everything was submitted on the 90th day. 3 weeks before expiration, I emailed to check status and I had to reformat my utility bills. If I hadn’t contacted them, I wouldn’t have been contacted and would have quietly expired. That really sucks. So now I’m a month past expiration and email/ phone calls go unanswered. Really disappointing on OCSD’s part.
