Prior to being in charge of the jail, the new Sheriff was apparently was in charge of the CCW unit - I wonder how many CCWs were issued under her direction.

No, I didn't receive any notice of a pass/fail or what my 'score' might have been so if you don't hear back from them within a few days of the psych eval, it might be worth a follow up call to Cordico. FWIW I think the full results should be included with the price we paid for it.

So the total time to put aside would be around 2+ hours consisting of filling out the list of questions online, then the 45 minutes answering true/false questions live with an examiner, and then another 30 minutes consisting of a live interview with an examiner?

When you say "a list of questions to be filled out in advance", is this weeks, days or hours in advance, or do you mean on the same day you made your appointment, but just before you then meet with a live examiner? Just need to know so I can plan accordingly and schedule on a day that I am off and can put aside the several hours for the exam.

    Thanks!

Being a resident in Alameda, I am keeping an eye on this thread. It has been eye opening to say the least. Psych evals, how many guns you own, pictures of your safe, etc. are just a way for the county to build a profile on you...a profile that 1) should have no bearing on your ability to CCW, 2) is none of their business. These are invasive question to your right to privacy. Under no circumstance should you forego your right to privacy for the right to carry.

I am keeping an eye on this in the hopes that Alameda is forced to abandon these requirements in light of Bruen. I am not holding my breathe though.

My friend in San Joaquin County received his CCW in 5 weeks from start to finish. There is no way this process should take so long. Each added step is to intentionally increase the length of time for a CCW to make it onerous enough to not partake in the process.

Good Luck to those who are on the waiting list.

I emailed my approved DROS form and that seemed to satisfy the requirement.

He was busy but professional. They send you a link to a questionnaire to be filled out prior to the testing appt. Takes about 45 min to complete and it must be done in one session or else it logs you out and you start over from scratch. General background questions. From there, on the day of your psych eval, you get another questionnaire of true/false questions centered more around psychology. Mostly benign questions with some red flag questions randomly tossed in (IE, "At times I feel that life is no longer worth living"). From there, the psych doctor will hop on (zoom) and conduct a 10 minute eval based on your answers. They will ask you why you want a ccw (I just answered basic self defense). The next day, I got an email from ALCO to take the firearms safety course and provide proof of firearm registration.
My only gripe with all this is the proof of firearm registration part, what would be the purpose of this?? Not really sure how it ties into the application and the purpose of getting a CCW .
