I wouldn't expect "Agency B" to renew a permit issued by a "Agency A", although it would seem they should have an expedited application process for situations like this. This is likely all by design....you wait 2 years for your permit, in the mean time they change they rules, and now when it's time to renew, you're stuck waiting through another long application process.

According to the information on the Hayward Police Department website, they do not process renewals for licenses issued by other agencies. Instead, individuals with expiring CCW licenses from another agency will need to apply as new applicants with the Hayward Police Department.

On a good note, I applied for a CCW permit back in August of 2023 with ACSO and havent even started the Live Scan. I applied yesterday directly with the city of Hayward and they emailed me after I filled out the application to get my Live Scan on the same day. Who knows how long this process is going to take but at least I have my foot in the door. I will update with timelines as the process continues.

Interesting. I also applied Alameda Aug 2023. Email from Judea says they are currently processing applications from Feb-mid March 2023.

I applied with Hayward PD, 7/1 8pm which was the first day they started accepting applications, did live scan 7/5. Sent 3 emails since asking for my place in line and update, no response. Permitium is still at "assigning to processor shortly" since the day I applied. All 3 livescans were finished by 7/9.

It looks like San Leandro will be ready to accept applications by the end of summer.

San Leandro just posted their CCW process. The initial total cost not including psych and training is $424 and $383 for renewals ANNUALLY and probably a 8hr training as well. No renewals accepted from the county and all must apply as new applicants. This is so BS.

Wow. Where are you reading that its only a 1 year permit?

Wanted to also provide feedback on timing for if you are doing a modification for an existing CCW in Alameda County.
                        • 7/21/24: Submitted modification application to Permitium.
                        • 8/30/24: Received note that my permit was ready for pickup, and to schedule a time for pickup.
                        • 9/10/24: Earliest time for pickup.
So in total 51 days to add a firearm to my permit.

Here's the link for San Leandro

Here's the link for Alameda County Sheriff's Office

                          Here's another one from Hayward

So both ACSO and Hayward posted their application type and fees that are a lot lower. San Leandro does not list how long the license are for and of course the cost is way higher as well.

Yea odd they don't list the length of permit like the other portals.

I only added 2 firearms to my permit, if I wanted to add a 3rd firearm would I have to reshoot the qualifier in order to add that 3rd gun? or since I passed the qualifier already could I just add it to my permit at any time without having to qualify with that 3rd firearm?

You have to qualify with each firearm you want to have on your permit.
