CCW /Solano County / Is it worth It?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm back in Vallejo for a few more days, having come home from overseas. I just found out about SB2. I obviously don't have time to apply now. Is it worth it to continue to pursue a CCW given the passage of this law?

I leave this week to go back overseas and return in Feb or March of next year. Is there something I can start before I leave and have that processing while overseas?

Is it difficult to get a CCW approved in Solano County?

On a tangent, I have maintained an Utah CCW for some years now. Does this permit make it easier for the application process to be processed or approved?

Thanks so much in advance in helping this newbie. 🙂

Can't speak to some of the items above, but you have 2 weeks to find out if SB2 will impact CCWs statewide or not. I know the lawsuits are in process, but not sure of their status. My guess is that it goes into affect 1/1/2024.

Since you're leaving overseas again for a few months, I'd say wait it out and see where the cards fall. No sense in starting a worthless project/venture.

Utah CCW has zero impact on the Calif CCW.

You could check out the Solano County CCW thread for more info/insight and experiences of people who went thru the process recently.

It's always worth getting the CCW. Of all the Bay Area counties, Solano is probably the easiest if not the easiest.

Don't know what bearing the non resident UT CHL has on getting the permit. When I still lived in Fairfield I got the CA permit first before getting the AZ and UT permits.

Just know that the process isn't as daunting in Solano.

I would apply atlases a month before coming back to Vallejo.
Will you be able to provide proof of residency before applying ?
Thanks for your service. Stay safe

I believe SB2 was just stayed, but that will likely be appealed. I personally believe that SB2 will be found unconstitutional but it's anyone's guess how long that will take and if it will be stayed through the duration of the case. If the stay holds, then yes, absolutely pursue the permit. Me personally, I'd get the permit either way just to give a giant middle finger to Gov Hair Gel and his ilk.

As for Solano's process, and as XDJ suggested, give a read through the Solano post in the county specific board, and ask any questions you have to that board.
