got a phone call from LAPD this morning at about 545am. It was an automated message telling me that my renewal permit was approved. Also received a couple of emails saying the same. Next pickup is 4/8/25 from 4-6pm, at LAPD HQ. That is 3 days before my current permit expires.

      Congrats and thanks for update.
Did you do Live Scan? Did they call references?

The renewal application does not ask for references. It's done online.

LAPD CCWs increased 42,000% since NYSRPA v Bruen

More Angelenos are now permitted to carry concealed firearms in public than ever before. With more people licensed to carry firearms in public than ever before, will L.A. see a rise in shootings and violent crime?

While it's good news that LAPD (and others) are finally issuing permits, a 42,000% increase is perhaps almost as important as noting that previously only 4 people in a city of almost 4,000,000 people had a permit.
That's .001% of the population that were allowed to exercise their 2A rights.

Website currently shows "The current waitlist is approximately 16-20 months to schedule an appointment." If current process tracks my experience, the call to schedule comes 3-4 months before the actual appointment...then -- assuming training and livescan is done before the appointment -- another month or 2 for approval, and probably another month for pickup. That's a 21-27 month wait. My wait was just over 12 months between early 2023 and early 2024. LAPD seems to be going the way of LASD.

LAPD updated their web page. I didn’t find any drastic changes. List of training providers is updated as well, “my” proffered vendor is there.

pickin up renewal permit later today. Will let you guys know how it goes.

                          Update:

Picked up my permit. Time slot was from 4-6pm. I arrived around 415/420. Met an officer in the lobby and handed him my ID. He then escorted us back to a conference room. There was about 30-35 people there waiting. I sat down for about 4 minutes before my name was called. Met the officer handling my renewal. Signed a form explaining the rules, received a receipt for my cashiers check and also a copy of the rules. Was handed my new CCW and was on my way. Total time was maybe about 15 min.

finally had my interview appointment. had my training, live scan and all documents submitted to permitium before interview. my officer was happy that i had it all done and said i can probably pick up on the next issuing date.

permitium said “pending reference interviews”, my references were called and then it changed to “pending supervisor review”

does anyone know how long it takes to go from pending supervisor review to approved for pick up?

This is new “thingy” Permitium and so far no many reports were submitted for timing. Also, on Redit I didn’t see detailed report on time frames. Before permits were issued every 3 weeks and we knew every next 3-4 dates and thus we could predict pretty accurate. No more, people do not report, no statistic
