Do you have any recommendations for dealing with the uncomfortable castle nut when using the featureless grip? Ideally a method that does not include removing the stock (it's pinned) or the buffer tube (it's staked).

I did just see that tennis racket grip tape option elsewhere in this thread. Any other options people like for this?

Personally, I have done electrical tape on one of mine and paracord on another. Im about to try an enhanced castle nut. I have seen electrical heat shrink also used, that would require removal of castle nut and buffer tube though.

I’m assuming you pre-ordered that Resurgent Arms ergo castle nut? That would have been great for me if my lower wasn’t already pretty locked down. Do you have pics of your paracord setup?

I used a knock k off SI enhanced castle nut. For the end plate, I sanded down the edges that make contact with my hand.

Sorry I don’t have a pic but this is what I did with the paracord without the metal ring. I made a loop with the paracord. Sits just below the charging handle too

Following up on your previous post and pleased to see an example. Thank you! I liked the Sparrow so much I bought 2 more. One was for a friend that keeps complaining that featureless AR's are just no fun.

It’s simple and can be done in a couple mins. Works well with the Sparrow grip

Curious why you went with the rifle vs carbine length stock. Is that a mid or rifle gas? I have a mid that has worked without issue with both...and I'm having trouble deciding which I preferred.

It’s a carbine gas. Went with rifle length because I like the length. Im 6’3 with long arms so the length is comfortable for me.

Because it fits...can't get much more practical than that. Thanks again for posting your setup. I think it is the best combo for the Sparrow I have seen yet for both function and aesthetics.

No sales right now. Most major holidays and some "patriotic" holidays.

You can use the Calguns Users discount code...

Anything that covers the buffer tube connecting to the castle nut is going to block your thumb from being over the sparrow grip. Theres just barely enough room. I slotted my buffer tube to mount a Fixed MOE back some. This SI stock looks like it doesnt have that option unless you drill a hole in it.

Thanks - sent a message to sparrow and got a reply. Ended up doing a strike industries stock stop and this.

Love the grip! Hoping I can reach my thumb around to take the safety off so I don’t have to spend more money and pick up their ambi safety.

I have the SI stock stop with the Sparrow grip. I have big hands (xl-xxl gloves) but my thumb can only flip the safety off. I ended up getting a 45/90 ambi and running it backwards so I engage the safety with my trigger finger.

As far as a shotgun style grip vs carry hold, I notice that I unconsciously gravitate towards a carry hold style where my thumb is on the side compared to around the back of the grip.

It does take a while to get used to the carry hold style of gripping.

Basically fingers under the grip like the fin grips and thumb on the side.
