Default Optic mount options

My wife having challenges with getting a good cheek weld due to her hearing protection. I happened to be in market for a new scope and was wondering in getting a higher mount, (1.93) would help. Rifles are an AR and a Tavor.

Mounts I'm looking at are ADM & Larue. Both mfgs have a taller option that puts center of glass at 1.9 or so. Would this help?? Any downsides to a taller mount?

If it matters, scopes I'm looking into is either vortex razor gene3 or Trijicon Credo.

Thanks in advance

Taller mounts are a little heavier and may or may not align with your natural point of aim when you mount the gun.

Have you thought about slimmer ear pro?

For the AR, you need "AR height" 1.4 inch mounts due to AR's buffer tube design.

ADM RECON Extended is my preferred mount for LPVO on ARs

A higher mount will 100% help with what you describe. There's a huge thread on AR15.com of people who have switched to 1.93" high mounts, and most people love them. There are some who say the 1.70" mounts from Badger Ordinance and ADM Recon-M mounts (1.63" for 30mm; 1.70" for 34mm) are the sweet spot. While I don't have any specific issues with the standard 1.45"-1.50" mounts, I'm really excited to try a 1.6" - 1.7" mount for my next purchase.

thanks for the input. Some answer to some of the questions:
- Im not concerned with weight of the mount. a half dozen oz plus or minus wont make a difference.

- yes on the slim ear muffs. Have walkers razors, howard leight impact and MSA Sordin. While they may have some differences between sound quality and hearing protection (dba) levels, they are all about the same as far as physical clearance and none eliminated the issue.

My wife currently has an ADM 1.47 recon mount with Vortex Razor Gen2 on AR. While I can manage an okay cheek weld, my better half finds it difficult and frustrating. So, I'm thinking of either changing the mount for a 1.93 ADM/Laru mount or adding a picatinny rail riser. Is using a riser a bad idea? See attached photo. This might give me the needed height without the expense of a new mount, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice accuracy.

Drew.. thanks for the info on ar15.com.. i will look into it.

Have you looked into new hearing protection? Possible more cost-effective and more comfortable in the long run.
