Default Just musing, is the Rare Breed FRT-15 worth it?

All this talk about FA guns makes me think about Rare Breed’s FRT-15 trigger again. Yes, there’s likely a sh**storm about them in the near future, but $380 is a hell lot cheaper than even a MAC. And that $200 you don’t have to pay for the stamp makes the trigger cost a bit more bearable. Plus you don’t have to wait 8-12 months.

Ammo cost is ammo cost, the same whether you shoot an FRT-15 or a select fire. There’s that .22lr option with CMMG kits as well.

The appreciation potential is not there, unlike a select fire, but the way my investments are going, I can probably get as much in the same amount of time. Plus, when I kick the bucket, there is one less headache my wife will have. God knows what she’ll do with the rest of my NFA stuff.

If the Feds come knocking, $380 is a lot less than the cost of a new puppy, but if plastic bumpstocks survived the courts being buried for a couple years, and there is a fair chance forced reset triggers might survive the legal quagmire.

Lots of people are selling these where you can do cash and carry if you want to spend $500. Heck, there’s even a guy in CG marketplace selling them. In CA of all places too!

They look like they work a lot better than binary triggers. Why don't you buy one and I'll take a trip to try yours out?

Have you seen any actual reviews that are impartial and not just trying to sell them?

Lots of them on YouTube.
The consensus is that you have to have a FA carrier, and a heavy buffer to make it run right.

Many YouTube reviews are critical of design shortcomings, but none is condemning. Some vids are offering solutions to the reported issues. BTW, other than scalpers on forum marketplaces and GB, the trigger is only available from Rare Breed and Big Daddy Unlimited, so not many authorized dealers.

To me the crucial issue is whether the ATF will someday declare them “machine guns”.

Sure, IF I do.
You bring the ammo
