Default Primary Arms vs Vortex?

Buy a Primary Arms Glx optic, or buy a Vortex optic on sale on EuroOptic?

I'm looking $0-$1000. First focal plane. Ideally at least 14x max magnification. I prefer mil turrets. Lifetime warranty. Lighter the better. Impartial on reticle, though horus style is great.

PA's ACSS dedicated caliber reticles sound like a great idea, but I've mostly bought Vortex scopes.

I don't want to buy something expensive that I don't like.

At the end of the day, Vortex Warranty's are awesome if you ever need to use it.

Vortex CS. I bought a used sight, it was missing parts. I contacted Vortex, they sent the missing parts and a hat for free.

Agreed on Vortex
Sent them an optic recently
They called me to let me know they found no issues with it
They still offered to replace it
Sent it back with a target they test fired it to confirm signed off with the tester and the distance

Their warranty is also no questions asked so it’s fully transferable
What the might lack in some QC or production in the US they make up with some of the best service I’ve encountered

Own both PA and Vortex. Both companies are good and have excellent C/S. With exception Razor AMG, scopes from both companies are made by OEMs overseas. Obviously Chicom made ones are cheaper and lesser quality than Japanese made Vortex Razors and PA Platinum lines.

Regardless, you can't go wrong with either company

Vortex warranty is hard to beat.

As a fan of fixed magnification (not what OP asked about) and BDC reticles the PA are fantastic performers.

Standard CG answer is "get both".

I have a few Vortex and love them. My brother had a Vortex PST Gen 2 and really liked it. I used it too out to 600 yards and saw everything very clearly. https://www.eurooptic.com/Vortex-Vip...-PST-3157.aspx

I have several optics from both companies and have been very happy with both of them. But for higher power scopes I generally go with Vortex, PA for zero power red dots (although I have some vortex too) and prism optics.

But if you ask scope snobs, they will say all non-Razor Vortex scopes are trash.

For me, Vortex is good value for the money.

most of the vortex scopes are decent values, but i have heard that their budget scopes are easily bettered by other brands in those price ranges.
lots of folks are talking about Arken being one of the best choices for a tight budget right now, but you might have to wait for them to be available.

I had used PA warranty service before. Never any problem.
ACSS type scopes are great for quick, multiple targets engagement at varying distances. I plan to upgrade all my PA SLx scopes to GLx once they are available.

In the past, Vortex never impressed me much when I used them, aside from glass quality on the top end models. Nowadays, I like the Razor 1-10x MRAD. It combines the best features of Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6x and PA Platinum 1-8x Griffin MIL.

I prefer Primary Arms over Vortex. The ACSS reticule is better than anything Vortex has for serious shooting.

Vortex glass is a tad nicer but not really noticeable at the high end. At the low end they are similiar.

I have used both Vortex Razor and Primary Arms PLx. Both are nice glass but prefer the ACSS reticle on the PA.

How's Arken? I'm feeling to branch out a bit and try a new product.

Was going to jump on the Vortex PST deal at sportmans, but waiting for payday was a "too late" situation and nothing else looks good. So I'll probably miss out on the gift card deal... and 10% off coupon. Bleh.

Arken SH scopes are now in stock on their website...so if you want one, this would be the time to get it. No personal experience with it, but Cyclops Joe on YouTube can't say enough good things about it (he admits he get "small amount" of $ via Arken affiliation)

I've been looking at getting the pa 1-8x accs reticle. Can someone with one chime in on what the fov is like and how big is the reticle in that fov? the picture from there website makes it seem like the reticle is tiny.

I think it depends if you get the FFP or SFP. I have the FFP (PA PLx 1-8x24mm FFP ACSS Raptor M2 5.56/.308) and the reticle gets bigger as you zoom in to see the details. Zoomed all the way out at 1x you use it as you would a red dot.
