Unhappy iTrader doesn't take https

It seems calguns now defaults to https. But iTrader still refuses to take https for the URL of the post of the transaction.

Correct.

The problem is being considered but to fix it currently would delete all prior I-Trader ratings.

Have you tried giving the URL field a default value of "http://" so members can simply copy/paste all after "www"? It's not a permanent fix, but it's an effective band-aid.

Make the mobile version optional, in other words let me opt out of it. As of right now I have to scroll down and select desktop view two times before it’ll take me out of mobile view.

What if we archived (removed from the front page) forums with no posts for over a year?

Can we add a pop-up note in I-Trader to remove the "S" from https when trying to provide feedback?

Maybe a Sticky in the Marketplace?

I assume you are trying to give a rating?

if yes: Copy/paste it, then remove the "S" from https

I use Tapatalk for many groups. Works better than website on iPad and iPhone. There’s an app for Android too.

- (Everything in between)
I'll be yet an other person in the chain of people who agree with this.

Rarely do buyers or sellers want to travel 350 miles from NorCal to SoCal or vice versa to pick up a firearm, so the pile-up of all listings into single sections for all of CA just doesn't make sense. Recently I tried reaching a deal with a member who was frustrating/rude over the distance thing, even when I extended an olive branch and said I'd travel the 350 miles twice (plus up and down, so that's 1400 miles of driving). Apparently nobody likes dealing with the drive in any way, buyers or sellers, so it would be really nice for the forums to reflect that.

For people who are willing to travel, that's great, they can click into the NorCal or Central Cal sections The rest of the 99.98% of members out there will save a lot of time/confusion/clutter/etc.

Or, at the very least, create optional sub-forums. Then CalGuns wouldn't have to reorganize the forums and people could opt-in to the regional sub-forums.

I realize that while the forum doesn't "need" to have the sections separated, quality of life improvements lead to happier members. And hey, happy members tend to be more likely to become (or renew as) contributors.

Mobile version by GeoVario won’t let me go back to “Normal” desktop version. I’m running an iPhone8+ with OS13.2.2. The Go to NORMAL button at the bottom of the page no longer works.

How do I turn off this completely useless mobile version by GeoVario??

Is the California Gun Rights Foundation the same as CalGuns? If so, perhaps we should send out a reminder to use smile.amazon.com which sends a percentage of your purchases to that foundation.

I'm embarrassed to say that I keep forgetting and all of my purchases this year were through their normal site. With everyone buying online right now, it would be nice to take a little of Amazon's money and use it to support the 2A Community at no cost to the buyers.

That does work!

I had the same thing happen on another vBulletin forum not too long ago. When I tried to figure out why it wasn't working, I noticed that below the "Deal thread URL" block it says

ex: http://www.site.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1234

However, all the links on the site are now https://. Apparently the feedback form doesn't recognize https as a valid link, so when you cut and paste the link directly from the Classifieds it won't work. However, if you delete the 's' the link starts with http://, the feedback goes through just fine.

Can CG begin to regulate the premiums on offroster handguns. I understand that its a luxury, but at the same time we are seeing a growing number of posts where people are paying 2x-3x the value of a handgun that is used, comes with no magazines (idk why, since most FFLs will block them using magblocks) and I'll restate this...sellers are asking for 2x-3x the MSRP, when we know that they themselves got it for less than MSRP, especially LE and MIL.

I understand it's a pay to play type of world, but at the same time that's like saying here's this 2018 Challenger SRT Demon, with 160K miles, Demon Package available...if you're a Pro Group N Driver. Asking price $200k.

While most of us (buyers at least) agree with your sentiments, it is a free market here.
This has been stated by the staff many times.

People are free to not buy anything they think is overpriced.

Similar (same?) in other sections.

Describe the problem, etc.

Give negative/neutral rating as appropriate (see Rules) and help the rest of us out.

(JBW currently has a 100% rating, no neutral or negative.)

Understood on the freedom of purchase and sentiments. But to state that people are free to not buy anything they think is overpriced, is kind of an unfair statement to make. The only reason why is because as a law abiding gun owner community, we have allowed for privileged individuals to set such premiums so high and thus, makes it the norm to see these premiums. With everything in this state going up to ridiculous prices in comparison to our neighboring states, it is maybe time that individuals begin to make their sentiments heard and felt. And I would be MYOB, but I've had friends made such purchases only to see them reach more into their pockets to make up for state compliant magazines or some other bull reason.

Then again we have listings in this marketplace, where people are being ridiculed for setting a high price for a gun that is roster approved, but is a different frame color that is hard to come by. Yet, we don't see that when other users post these off roster handguns with the premium and they state that they will not come with magazines unless the buyer is LEO, well, LEO wouldn't be buying your premium taxed handgun because they themselves are privileged to purchase it on their own for way cheaper.

I'm not against a free market, but it would be more understandable and reasonable if the premiums were maybe a very low few hundreds. Not twice the MSRP for a used handgun that will not include any magazines.

I still agree with your intentions but:

Ridiculing prices within the Marketplace is a violation of the Thread-crapping rule, these s/b reported and removed.
Violators can be permanently removed from the Marketplace for this behavior and probably have been.

Are you willing to volunteer to establish the price for everything sold on this site?
You are not even a Contributor to this site, how do you intend we pay for the additional moderators to police the sales?
It certainly is not a job I would do for free.
The amount of work to make as much as an attempt at pricing everything within someone's perception of "reasonable" would be incredible.

Sorry, if you want to establish price regulation, you are against a free market.
If people quit buying overpriced items, the price will go down.
This happens constantly, and most of us are unaware of the actual sale price vs. asking price.

I wish this were not even a point of discussion here, there are a few things I would still want to buy at a price I consider "fair".
That is not likely until the laws of this state that allowed this to happen in the first place are overturned.
I hope to live long enough to see that.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

In regards to CG Off Roster prices, I myself pay premium prices for off roster guns, that is a decision all consumers make when purchasing “premium” items. I have also sold guns at premium prices to try and make up for the price I paid for the firearm so I dont loose too much money, its unfortunately the price we have to pay.

CG regulating prices is not the way to go, I believe we just need to stop purchasing firearms at the inflated price, hopefully by doing that it will lower the prices. Even then people will try to out bid each other by offering the seller a higher pay than the already listed price this creating the inflation again.

There was a member on here selling a G19X and was looking to trade for a G45, he stated if he were to buy the G45 at a reasonable price he would pay it forward and mark down his G19X. I believe doing things like that will help with this off roster situation, at the end of the day if its too much dont buy it. I have seen some great deals on here but they are rare.

Best of luck.

In the WTS ads, why do many people remove the asking price after sold? I have been trying to figure a "reasonable" price for a pistol I am selling and have come across this a lot. It would be nice to see what people have actually paid to set the market. What are the thoughts?

Most of us agree with you.

You can post your question in "California Handguns" and ask opinions on pricing.

You can ask for an amount higher than you think is reasonable and state: "Willing to negotiate" or just plain "OBO"

Off roster commands a premium price in CA.

Violators can be permanently removed from the Marketplace for this behavior and probably have been.

Poor guy has been crapped on for awhile. Even one of these users tried crapping on my thread.

Upper right of the post: Hit the red triangle to report problem posts.

Here is the Rule (Sticky in each Market sub-forum) to help spread the word:

10) Thread-crapping.
Commenting on a post in a negative manner, called 'thread-crapping', is not allowed. If you think an item is overpriced or of lesser quality, don't buy it. If you have concerns about the seller PM a Moderator or Admin and we can discuss the matter. Thread-crapping will be deleted, multiple instances of thread-crapping will result in being barred from the Marketplace forums entirely.

Kes has taken care of it.

I do enjoy many of his quotes.

I can no longer stayed logged in indefinitely by checking the Remember Me box. Have to log in again after an hour or two of inactivity. I used to be able to do that up until today. Has something changed?
Thanks
