Default Searching for a Phone #- or knowing who is calling

I'm Cheap and don't really think I need Intellius.

I get a ton of phone calls... I activated the "Silence unknown callers" option on my iphone. I also use True caller to help filter spam

the problem is I miss relevant calls.... when they leave a message, I'll call back but some big companies make it impossible to reach them again.

If there an app that can check incoming calls and do a better job showing if the number is tied to a legit business?

as an example...I just missed a call from 562-912-6215

When I google and Duck Duck Go search the number, I find nothing....

Is there a better app?

All the apps utilize custom or private databases of caller IDs, some are better than others, and some apps allow fine-tuning the permissions.

However, only a fraction of the numbers in the world, and consequently a lot of the non-DID pool numbers that companies are allocated, never make it into those data stores, so the effectiveness of the apps is limited, especially in your case.

Each carrier has a free app that lets you do spam blocking and routing to VM, based on a DB hit or caller-ID, but it can still be a pain to manage that en mass.

I usually just set up the voicemail message to instruct the caller to provide a direct line or DID number to reach a person, or else tell them that due to the number of spam calls, that their communication will be undeliverable and that any legal ramifications due to that situation is incumbent on the calling party, and that leaving a message constitutes agreement to my terms.

Usually they find a way to make it work, once hearing the legalese.

I simply delete all calls I get that don't leave a message. If I get a message, then I know who it is. If I don't get a message, it wasn't important.

I just Google the phone number. If the number belongs to a legit company chances are the search results will include their website. If the results are only people search sites or foreign sites I consider the number and the call spam.
