That is unless of course an occupation government has somehow achieved power and authority over a people who at one time were considered an asset, to protect our nation from atrocities we read about in history. Others are free to surmise how 20000 gun laws came to be and why the worst of the worst is free to run rampant with government auspices and why gun shows , purchases and other one time common activities are now a privilege to be doled out by government . Thank Heaven for a Republican Party and the NRA for at least stopping a complete disarmament of citizens . Last edited by ja308; 12-02-2022 at 2:15 PM.. |

I have no idea how involved CA DOJ is with the SAR show but they are there. As are the ATF and DEA.
Ammo is really not the focus but I have not spent much time talking to the big ammo dealers since my friend Howie at UNAMMO closed his shop. I do know for a fact that CA DOJ and ATF are always at the swap meet in quartzite. There are busts all the time for running guns into CA. AZ also has a few other lesser known illegal gun shows around the state at swap meets. I know a guy that had about 25 or so guns confiscated by ATF. I watched it all happen as I was with my friend selling a bunch of car parts and clothes. A local cop will walk around "shopping" the tables. He is spotting the guns while being friendly. Once he leaves ATF roles up in black suburbans or Tahoe's. Usually at least 30 of them in about 10 cars. Sheriff rolls up too. ATF steels the guns and makes the seller sign paper he won't display guns for sale again as he was warned about dealing without a license. A lawyer would cost at least $10k and no guarantee to get guns back. That's how it works. I've seen it with my own eyes. As far as CA DOJ... They called me often. Wanted info on my customers. Told them to contact ATF and have ATF request any bound books. All ATF can do is look up the first digits of ffls I shop to and find the ca dealers then contact them. They cannot go through my sales records. So yes CA DOJ does waste lots of money hunting down stuff out of state. Look at the magazine lawsuits CA filed. I had disclaimers on my invoices that the mags were restricted to 10 by required method and alteration or removal of the materials to change capacity was the manufacturing of a hcm by the person or agency doing it. Same disclaimer with the guns I modified. As far as I know not a single customer of mine has ever been in trouble with CA DOJ. Only ca ffls that did illegal things after I legally shipped my guns to them. Again, I had nothing to say to DOJ about what I did not know.

Law Enforcement is always on the lookout for criminal activity.
But that's a far cry from the tale told about Cal Doj agents "vacationing" in Arizona and following Ca plated vehicles. I was at the show yesterday. Didn't see any skulking California types in the parking lot. Lol

Looked at a couple of FN-49's and a few FAL's as well as some Chinese SKS's But all were pretty high priced, and the FN-49's I already have. I really wanted to see if any sellers had any of the PSA made AK's, but didn't see a one. I have heard good reviews on them and wanted to see one (or a bunch) in person. Ammo prices were down a bit, which is a good thing, and supplies were good I think the cost for ammo will continue to drop, as the vendors I spoke to were not selling much in any real bulk amounts. I think the lowest cost for brass new mfg. 9mm was $269 per 1,000 7.62x39 was about $375 per 1,000

Good to hear that ammo prices are turning, I wish component prices would do the same. That 9mm brass seems awful high but 7.62x39 is not really bad for anything non-corrosive.
I went to the Pomona show a few times back in late 80s early 90s era, always a lot of cool stuff if you got there early enough. If I recall it was even socially acceptable to be a gun owner in California back then. Thanks for the report! |

I forgot, I did get a few good deals. Bought a early m16 full stock for$10 and a set of Blackhawk hybrid folding sights for $40.
And two Boker automatic knives. Older models NOS in their OG boxes for $80.

CADOJ or feds are NOT cops. They’re not answering any calls for service or hunting your local dirtbag. They’re attorneys with guns. They have ALL he time in the world.

LOL yes !
Although Joe knows one needs only 2 rounds of shotgun ammo to stop those with bad intentions. "Just fire 2 blasts over the balcony... " Not addressed are people living in basements, ground floors or even double wides . |

crossroads of the west gun show in Phoenix

I spoke with someone who had a booth there. The roof in their building was leaking, they were walking around in standing water. It was a mess. I heard the Valley got a lot of rain. Just sprinkles in Prescott (although we could have used it.)

Yup lots of water. Roofs appeared to hold up in all the buildings. Lots of standing water outside. No deals to speak of.

Wasn't looking for those, and you would probably have to be to see one. So no I didn't see any.

Why would HSI agents monitor gun shows? They conduct customs and immigration investigations. I suppose there could be a smuggling connection, although state-to-state doesn't count. ATF and FBI would make more sense.

Why would the feds watch California plates? Seems like they would be inside looking for federal violations.

Another obstacle to California law enforcement prosecuting someone importing ammo, which is at most a misdemeanor, into the state is the offense must be committed in the presence of the officer, See Penal Code 836. Penal Code 30312 only applies to California residents, so an officer must have some suspicion that a purchaser in another state is a California resident, he must witness the acquisition, and the depositing of the ammo into a vehicle and watch the vehicle all the way to the border and cross the border into California.
A California resident can legally take ammo acquired in California into another state and bring it back into California. A California resident can legally purchase and use or store that ammo in another state. The burden of prosecuting this crime has a lot of logistical and practical obstacles.

My son and I were there Friday, big crowd, saw quite a few CA plates. No lines at the ammo booths which were packed last year. Bought 2 MP5 mags and 3 Galil mags and a t-shirt. Enjoyed the show.
