what are the legalities to building a rifle, and then deciding to sell it to friend or family member in california? is that possible without getting into trouble? and if i didnt pin the stock on a underfolder, but installed a 6" muzzle device making the oal 30" or greater, is that legal? assuming it is 922r compliant and has a bullet button. im asking because my friend has a milled yugo m64 underfolder that he built but wants to sell. any info would be apreciated.

The original maker has to add legal markings to a homemade firearm before it can be sold or otherwise transferred. Maker's name, location (city and state), caliber (can be "multi"), and serial number. All characters must be at least 1/16" high and .003 deep into the surface of the metal.

The maker should verify my statements with his own understanding of the ATF rules on legally required markings. My understanding may be out of date.
