Default JC Higgins Sears 22lr

Aquired in the 70s. Simple but fun, single shot bolt action.

That's in great condition for its age.
Did you ever go to that website where you can see what firearms manufacturer made that model for Sears.

It was usually some quality manufacturer like Marlin or Mossberg, etc.

They would just change a few features from the guns they were previously making and stamp it as Sears and use a new model number.

They might be other websites with the same information but this is the one I was talking about above.

Even if you don't own a Sears / j.c. Higgins gun take a look at the list and you'd be surprised at all the quality firearms companies that were making Sears and Roebuck guns...

If I read your model correctly it is a Sears / JC Whitney model 41DLA

And according to the conversion chart (which isn't always 100% right) it looks like it was originally made made by Marlin Firearms and it was their "Deluxe" .22 bolt action model....

122 / Deluxe

And here are two old catalog images and that model is in both of them...

Nice gun. I have a JC Higgins model 31 semi auto that was passed down to me from my dad. Very accurate gun but doesn’t like all 22 ammo. It’s the one that has the retractable sling built into the stock.

Those little Marlins shoot really well, I have a Marlin 101 and a Glenfield 100G, they pull to cock, yours cocks itself and goes on safe.I would love to acquire an example like yours to complete the trio.

I got one when I was a kid from my Grandpa. It has the factory 4x (I think) 20mm scope.
