Winchester 1902 'Boys' Rifle
Pulled this little gem out of the back of the safe and ran a patch through the bore this morning. It's a Winchester model 1902 in .22 Short, Long or Extra Long and it's in excellent all original condition which is very rare for this model as they were an inexpensive single shot rifle marketed to boys and the Boy Scouts, as such, they got used and abused.
Introduced in 1902 in .22 Short with a 18-inch barrel and blued steel butt plate, in 1904 the butt plate was changed to composition hard rubber which this one has and in 1914 Winchester altered the chamber configuration to .22 Short, Long or Extra Long to increase marketability; the 1902 model is not serial numbered. Manufactured from 1902 through 1931 approximately 640,299 were made, when introduced in 1902 it sold for $5.00. Past 1902 Auction https://www.morphyauctions.com/james...t-rifle-37375/ .
