Smile re-chamber 6.5x55 Swedish to 6.5 Grendel

I have a very nice old Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55, shoots very accurately. But ammo is almost impossible to find.
I do have a lot of 6.5 Grendel ammo, so I was wondering if it's feasible to re-chamber it to shoot the grendel .
Also any gunsmiths that you guys can recommend in the Sacramento area who might be able to do this job ?
Thanks for any suggestions

The 6.5x55 chamber is both larger and longer than the 6.5 grenade.
That means you would not be able to rechamber the existing barrel.

You could possibly rebarrel the action.
Then you would only have the magazine and bolt problems to deal with as the 6.5x55 magazine will not feed the 6.5 grenade and the 6.5x55 bolt will not work with the 6.5grenade.
So basically you would need a new receiver and bolt that would feed the smaller cartridge and then you could rebarrel that reciever with a barrel that fits the smaller cartridge.

You can usually find some stuff online at targetsportsusa.com. Shipping is free if you buy a bulk quantity, or join their membership program. The membership also gets you a lower price, and any ammunition order is shipped free. You'll still have to pay some sort of fee at an FFL, but often there is one that will do the transaction at a low price.
Where do you live, and how much are you looking for?
The post above by AR15barrels is accurate. It's a very bad idea to try to alter your nice old Mauser to 6.5 Grendel (or grenade as he uses).

Prvi partisan loads for it, and Sellier and Belot. Outdoor Limited.

As you said, the 6.5x55 is very accurate. Why ruin a perfect rifle?

It is possible to cut the barrel back and rechamber but that is more expensive than buying another rifle IMHO.

I reload for my Swedish Mauser and have a separate rifle for Grendel.

It may not be feasible for you to do this if you are on a budget but you could also sell the Swede and buy something in Grendel.

Also, like Hunter said, Privi makes food for the Swede.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I use 6.5 grenade because I received a cease-and-decist letter from alexander arms law firm telling me to cease my use of the name that alexander arms uses for their 6.5 cartridge.

That seems rather narrow-minded!

OP, the Privi noted above is usually in stock in 120 grain or maybe 139/140 at Target Sports.
