FYI, for people who reported this as an illegal AW.
This is a CA legal semi-auto rimfire firearm that is not a pistol or a rifle and that does not have a fixed magazine. Because this firearm: 1. Has a barrel length of 16+", it does not meet the CA definition of a "handgun" [PC 16640 and 16530(a)], so CA assault weapons laws for pistols do not apply to it. 2. Does not have a shoulder stock, it does not meet the CA definition of a "rifle". [PC 17090] 3. Is a firearm chambered in a rimfire cartridge, it does not meet the requirements to be an assault weapon as a semi-auto firearm that is not a pistol or a rifle. [PC 30515(a)(9),(11)] It is CA legal for a semi-auto rimfire firearm that is not a pistol or a rifle to be set up for use with detachable magazines. A stripped receiver transferred from a CA FFL dealer will be DROS'd as a "long gun, other, receiver". That "long gun, other, receiver" can then be utilized to legally make a CA legal semi-auto rimfire firearm that is not a pistol or rifle. |
