Default Henry color case 44. Carbine or rifle?

I'm about ready to make the click to send a Henry 44 mag color case lever to my FFL. I just can't make my mind up between the big loop 16.5" carbine and the 20" rifle. C'mon guys (and gals), help me choose!

20" barrel. They seem to balance better. And look better. My opinion on looks.

I have a Henry Big Boy Steel 357 mag. Rifle Model H012M.
It's the 20".

I replaced the small lever to a large loop lever.
I got the large loop lever from Henry and was easy to install.

I was kind of leaning towards the 20" and buying the glove loop. I was thinking the Duke look so so I looked up John Wayne... his was a 18.5" model 92. Tweener.

The only reason I am considering the 16.5" was just because I don't have a lever carbine, I have a 94 and a 92, both 20".

This would be my choice as well brother...

Have you given any thought on the 41 mag?

I personally love the idea of .41 mag, I just don't really love the idea of a new caliber in my stable. I already have a .44 mag revolver and the dies etc... so I chose the .44 over the .357 just for power sake. The ballistics on the former are significantly better and I kind of fantasize about shootin' something with it.

My vote is the 20". Looks, balance and extra mag capacity.

Can't argue with that. Those Henry Steel rifles are great guns, that one that penn has is a darn good shooter.
Henry is really making some good guns. I think they are just getting started

I'm going for the Carbine in brass to match my Ruger Super Blackhawk with brass grip frame.
Get the 16" it's a pistol cartridge that can't make full use of a 20" barrel

M1NM, I believe in the 16" barrel, powder burn is complete. I'm just thinking a 20" barrel balances better. Slightly longer sight radius if using irons. Strictly my opinion.

If its just for fun get the 16 inch
Would be a fun little blinker
If you're going to hunt with it get the longer one for the additional velocity

20" looks the best. It's what lever's should classically look like.

I'd only choose the carbine if you're using it on horseback, for SD/HD, and/or hunting in heavy brush.

I ordered the rifle length in .44 Mag today from my friends at 7th St. Pawn in Victorville. Should have it in my grubby hands in about two weeks after shipping and the ten day DROS.

Congrats! AC. Those are some good-lookin' Henrys.

I have revolver-caliber lee-ver car-beans with barrels of 16.5", 18.5" and 20" and the 20's the ones that balances the nicest. The 16.5" Rossi, however, is short, light and very handy, as is my 18.5" Marlin.

I vote you get both! eventually.

I wrestled with it a few days, in the end the 20" version is just more useful in my mind.
