This blog is simply intented to share information. It is in no way a loading manual. I'm not an expert blogger or author so there will be typos. If you don't recognize these typos and blindly use ridiculous charges it is your own fault.

Use common sense. Double check all information in this blog with other manuals. Work up your own loads. I'm not responsible for your mistakes, even if you're making the same mistakes as me.

Crushed some cases

Posted 10-16-2012 at 11:56 PM by mroels

Set up my .223 dies in my new turret press. Guess I didn't back out the seating die enough. When I first tested slowly to adjust seating depth everything was fine. Then when I got going I ended up with crushed shoulders My own fault as there was a noticeable inconsistency in the ram stroke, but I ignored it and didn't notice the crushed shoulders until 25 rounds in. No biggie as these were just plinking rounds using brass that was on its last legs and bullets my rifle doesn't really like. Backed the die out a 1/4 turn and all was well

While pulling the bullets I noticed media residue on the bullets. Enough residue as to where it would affect accuracy. So I learned that I have to do a much better job neck brushing.

Not a fun session.
