What possible reason would anyone need to get an Idaho permit when so many other permits are recognized in Idaho and much easier to get through the mail such as Arizona and Utah?

Here is why. It all depends on where you plan to travel or what bragging rights you desire. MN, which only recognizes a few other states, recognizes the Enhanced ID permit. For a non resident of ID to get an Enhanced ID permit the non resident needs a permit from his or her state of residence and it is an 8 hr class in ID. AZ gets 33 states and AZ and CA gets 35 states (CA & MI). UT gets 33 states and UT and CA gets 35 states (CA & MI) but the states are different. AZ gets NM and UT gets WA. If you are willing to travel to WA it is a simple shall issue process. For ID residents, Enhanced ID plus OR gets 41 states.

Your explanation makes sense for those people who are in the exact situation you described. Since I don't travel to Minnesota it makes ZERO sense for me to get an Idaho permit. I do, however, travel to Idaho on occasion. When there I have permits that are recognized so for me it makes no difference. Thank you for the explanation.

Just got my Virginia in 32 days all done online. My california CCW is pretty much a small piece of paper...the Virginia is a hard card that looks better then my drivers license.

I'll ask the same question about the Virginia permit....

He said it was all done online so no going to VA.

Plus the more permits issued across the country the better.

Why the dislike of people having multiple permits that meet their needs? If someone has the time to get one and the funds to do so (under $100 for 3-5 years before expiration) why not?

I've got CA, AZ, UT and ID. I've thought about FL, OR, VA and whatever else I can get easily, just to help bump up the stats

I've got a total of eight CCW permits, including California. I have no "dislike" as put it. I'm just trying to understand the need for a Virginia permit for a non-resident of state for anyone who has the other permits. Its all good. Carry on!

FWIW, the Nevada permit isn't unpleasant to get. You spend a weekend in Vegas taking a firearm class with live fire, then on Monday morning you get fingerprinted at the police station along with a roomfull of strippers. Everybody treats you more or less professionally.

FYI, the LVMPD CCW unit is open seven days a week now so you can take your class on Saturday and process your application Sunday morning!
