I just measured that dimension for you on a Remington 870 Express. It is right about 0.2"

Maybe I'm just not familiar with the parts naming convention, but is that the piece that's normally soldered to the barrel?

If so, where did the one go that was originally installed on your barrel?
Are you converting a 500 barrel or something?

Are you running a + mag extension tube?

There are aftermarket barrels and magazines out there. Probably cheaper, faster and easier than building one like it seems you want to.

Problem with mossbergs is if you want the larger mag tube, you have to change the barrel too. Not the same as an 870.

It might be easier to cut down a longer one than to make one.
I can cut down longer 590 barrels if you have one.

Perhaps you don't realize that 500's can not have an extended magazine tube past the barrel's mounting ring because the ring is too small for the magazine tube to fit through.
That's one of the big differences between a 500 and a 590 besides the steel receiver on the 590.
The 590 barrel ring slides over the magazine tube like an 870.
This allows extended magazine tubes to be threaded on like an 870.

That's great! I've been searching everywhere, and have found nothing... What are the names of some of these aftermarket barrel manufacturers?

Heck, I don't remember. I bought one about 4 years ago and one about 10 years ago. One has a 28" inch modified barrel with the long mag tube, the other is the normal 20" with long mag tube.

I also found an off-brand 20" barrel that fits the normal 500 mag tube, but accepts screw in chokes. That's my turkey and duck gun.

I have the boxes or receipts for none of them, so couldn't tell you who made them. I'll do some looking around when I get spare time and see if I can find answers though!
