I just put in an order for another one from 1 Of 1 Knives up in Oregon. Can't wait for it to get finished.

I'm a custom knife maker besides a rancher. Many of my gun shot pics include knives because the pic was originally taken for the knife and the gun is the prop. I use other steels besides damascus. Here AEB-L stainless on one of my Paisano models with a California Buckeye Burl for the handle:

Or 26C3 high carbon on this Vaquero with stabilized and dyed box elder:

However, I'm well known for my damascus use. Here a California Coyote with elk on the handle. I work almost exclusively with natural handle materials.

      A Bandito with amboyna burl:

Back to levers, a Tapadero with an engraved bolster and camel bone on the handle:

My wife is a full partner both in the ranch and in Horsewright and our knives and leather gear are pretty well known in the ranching/working cowboy world.

Got to love that California Coyote with elk on the handle.....

Even better is the almost normal sized picture
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I have some lever guns, but wanted to add this. When you see Chuck Conners at the start of every Rifleman go blam blam blam blam blam and nonchalantly twirl cock the rifle, you realize its an 1800's assault rifle.

1 light enough rifle for one man to carry and shoot.
                      2 medium power
                      3 capable of fast shooting

If it has those 3 then I think it's an assault rifle!

A wwii movie showing a German machine gun nest with gun anchored to the ground fails 1 and 2 (it's high power and too heavy).

A 20's gangster movie showing hood with Tommy gun fails #2 (light power cartridges, not medium). Sub machine guns aren't assault rifles.

Darto, Jeff Cooper would have agreed with you. Although he preferred the .30 caliber versions of the Winchester, he didn't think the buttstock at it's attachment point to the receiver strong enough for military service. It is probably the only weak link in what you describe.

[Edit:] I like the revolver-caliber Winchester action; the 1892, and of course the Marlin 1894 and 1895 .45-70, but the .30WCF/.30-30 has the clear advantage over the .44 Magnum beyond 100 yards.

The 30-30 starts with more oomph and keeps it across its useful range. Looking at the data from Remington's web site: http://www.remington.com/products/a....=R30301*R44MG2

Anyone ever mod their lever with the large hoop and screw to fast fire it? I once saw the Rifleman's Winchester at a gun show.

I once saw the Rifleman's Winchester at a gun show.

That rifle was modified for an ongoing TV stunt.

At least we know it can be done, so if you're after a heavy *volume* of fire, then, have at it.

Anyone ever mod their lever with the large hoop and [locking thumb-]screw to fast fire it?

One has to ask, "Why?". The object of shooting is hitting. And follow-up shots can be accomplished quickly with little practice with a slicked factory action.

Why is easy here. Hillbilly @ssault rifles might be all we can get here down the road.

Not mine but I shot one that was modified like that when I was a young teen.
The owner was a Rifleman fan.

I would not modify any of my lever guns in that manner.

Kind of like Bruce Jenner, but the rifle still has a bolt.
