Damn, I was unaware this happened. Sounds like it went well.

Here is a good article I found on the meeting. The video on the county site doesn't work for me.

Nice! I'm going to be looking for some good spots to set up to ring some steel out past 500 meters. Any suggestions?

There's a nice 1,000 yard range in Mohave Valley.
          Otherwise, lots of open desert.

I'll check the range out. I have a Ruger Precision in 6.5 creedmoor that needs it's legs stretched more.

I believe there will be another meeting on the proposed Yavapai 2A sanctuary on Jan 2nd, but I haven't been able to find a time/place yet. I'll post when I find it, but if anyone else knows, please post up.

                        Arizona 2nd Amendment Sanctuary

Found another post from the Prescott Indivisible group. It reiterates that the 2A sanctuary resolution is not on the agenda and that only a proclamation by the board supporting the 2A is. A link to the agenda seems to support this.

The Arizona Citiezen Defense League (AzCDL) sent out this notice yesterday. For all in AZ, if you are not part of the AzCDL, please consider joining. They have been very effective protecting AZ gun rights.

Yavapai County Second Amendment Sanctuary Hearing

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors is meeting on Thursday, January 2, 2020 to debate and vote on a resolution to declare Yavapai County a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.”

The hearing will be held at 1015 Fair Street in the Yavapai County building in Prescott Arizona. The meeting starts at 9 AM. Please plan on being there before 8:15 AM to get a seat.

If you are unable to drive to Prescott for the meeting, you can also view the meeting at the Yavapai County Annex at 10 S. 6th Street in Cottonwood where you’ll be able to view the proceeding and provide oral and written comments.

Whether or not you can attend, we ask that you to contact the Yavapai Board of Supervisors and urge them to support the resolution to make Yavapai County a Second Amendment Sanctuary.

We need to fill the room with Yavapai County Second Amendment supporters! A local anti-rights “Progressive” group, Prescott Indivisible, in a Facebook post dated December 19, is encouraging their followers to attend and speak out against the resolution.

Here is the letter template they are using to make their points. I've added my own thoughts to it. I will email a copy of this to the supervisors (my 2nd email to them). Feel free to use it as you see fit.

It is legal to not enforce unconstitutional laws (both local and federal). This was affirmed in the Marbury v. Madison Supreme Court case of 1803.

Some of our neighbors feel that their second amendment right is under threat. It is not. There have been no gun confiscations, no changes in the law, and not one bill introduced in the last three decades focused on taking away second amendment rights. None.

There is an assumption that any and all American citizens have the right to own any and all firearms, with no permit, background check or training. They do not. There are Federal laws in place to protect all of us, not just gun owners. We deserve to feel safe in our streets, in our schools, and in our daily life.

There is an assumption that the county can put such an ordinance into place. It cannot. County law never supersedes federal law.
Incorrect, again see Marbury v. Madison Supreme Court case of 1803. Federal law never supersedes the US Constitution.

                                1. Violent crime is down and has been on the decline for decades.
                                2. The principal public safety concerns with respect to guns are suicides and illegally owned handguns, not mass shootings.
                                3. A small number of factors significantly increase the likelihood that a person will be a victim of a gun-related homicide.
                                4. Gun-related murders are carried out by a predictable pool of people.
                                5. Higher rates of gun ownership are not associated with higher rates of violent crime.
                                6. There is no clear relationship between strict gun control legislation and homicide or violent crime rates.
                                7. Legally owned firearms are used for lawful purposes much more often than they are used to commit crimes or suicide.
                                8. Concealed carry permit holders are not the problem, but they may be part of the solution.
