    The Internet is Wonderful

I found these 16 rounds of what appears to be 6.5x55 Swedish - lead tip hunting rounds - I guess.

While researching the Headstamp, I found this thread regarding surplus blowing up Swedish Mausers and Ljungmans:

The VI 46 4 8 HA headstamp of the Danish made ammo is what is on the 16 rounds in this box. Makes me wonder what the four rounds missing did.

I will clearly mark these rounds as not to be fired.

The issue was due to the bullet jacket shearing and staying inside the bore.

However I believe all that ammo had silver colored FMJ-RN bullets with a gilding metal jacket , not pointed soft point copper jackets.

I would bet someone already pulled the bad bullets and reloaded them with modern PSP bullets.

Yup I was right. Check the below link for pic's of the original loading.

some pics. So the bottom two- these are cases which had their anvils reworked. Are the top two with the wood bullets, blanks on reused case, identified by the dash? Thanks, Dan

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, SVT-40 - so something was wrong with the anvils in this batch - too?

Will probably give this to my local gun store for disposal, no one I know collects cartridge cases.

you're welcome. Regarding the anvils, apparently, however the anvils were reworked as indicated by the triangle marking on the head stamp.

Damn, I didn't even notice them. The one I was taking a close look at had a weak impact mark. Guess I will just keep them with the other odds and ends in an ammo can.
