What docs are needed to transfer a gun as a seller

I believe a seller just need one form of identification like a drivers license. Does the Federal Limits Apply language on a license invalidate that as a form of identification? Thanks.

A CA DL/ID is required for a seller in a private party transfer.

Some FFLs will require additional identity information from the seller if that ID has Federal Limits Apply on it. The reason is that if the buyer fails the background check, then the dealer has to return the gun to the seller and they want to know beforehand that there will not be a problem in that regard.

Strange that some FFLs want to DROS the firearm back to the owner.
      Is this "extra legal?"

The FFL I used just looked at the I.D. and handed the firearm back.

In the world outside of California it only makes sense that the sale did NOT take place.
Dealer Record Of Sale...DOJ blocked the sale......why make the owner sell his firearm back to himself?

Have a relationship with your FFL.
      Always ask about store policy.
When using a big box store you get what you pay for.
"yes, maybe, I think so, I did not say that, no and next in line"

DOJ/FFL can make it hard for new seller/buyer.

But then those people wouldn’t be selling a gun through an FFL. And if it’s registered to them, that would have mean they’re okay’d with residency/citizenship.

            I hate activist FFLs.

We should have a list of these so they can be avoided.
