Default first time shooting 700 yards

well .. I wish I had toys to records it .. but I dont have any vid

it was fun trying at 700 yards at hodge yesterday . I was posted on top of hill , so i can see the target .. my last target I posed at 760yards , but once i got to my shooting spot and looking around .. I couldnt find it ..

It took me few shots to figure out where it was hitting and after dialed in , I was able to hit it 3 shots in a row n it felt good

weapon of choice = 20in barrel 308

ammo = my own loads 150gr FMJBT hornady stuff

I think im going to try push out lil more 800 , 900 , upto 1000 if i can .. not sure it's possible with 150grain stuff ..

at 700 yards I'm slightly surprised to hear you hit it with the 150 grains lol.

I've shot those hornady 150g fmj's out to 1,150 yds out at a 30" piece of steel with my 1917 30'06 & of course didn't get any hits but I was surprised when my spotter was calling out the misses (splash) they were all around the target by a few feet. Made me wonder how they would do in a precision rig. I never did test them any further but for a cheap bullet I think they are worth the $$.

Try the 150 grain out to 1750 yards and should be able to get close. We were using iron sights from a Springfield 1903 and we could see most of our hits. It was a kick.

I shoot 55gr 5.56 out to 600 and you can hear it depending on what you are hitting. 77gr is definitely more audible and less effected by wind.

EDIT- I see, you were surprised to hear that he hit it, not that he could hear the hit... disregard...
