Default How many calibers in your inventory are you currently reloading for?

So I've been going through my ammo inventory as of late and I just realized I'm stocking 11 calibers...whoa. Here's the list:

.22lr, .223/556, 6.5 creedmoor, .338 lapua, 9mm, .38 spl, .357 mag, .44 spl, .44 mag, 30-06, and .303 british.

Its starting to seem like too much. I'm thinking of consolidating somehow, or selling some firearms to eliminate how many calibers I need to stock in order to simplify. I don't shoot .223/556 much anymore so that's one, but then I'm still at 10 rounds, 4 types of primers, and over a dozen types of bullets.

How many calibers are you guys stocking, and how many of those are you reloading for?

9mm, 45acp and 223. I also use cheap stuff for x39. No point in reloading those for me.

I have dies for some 30+ different calibers, just picked them up here and there, or friends asked me to load certain things and bought the dies, or they came in purchases of used reloading gear, but I for the most part only load for my own use-

9mm
.45
5.56
300 blackout
.308
.408 Cheytac

1 (223). Trying to keep it easy on myself. Focus on the 1 I shoot 95-98% of the ammo of. I have a Mosin and 12 gauge but I like to collect a pile of a thousand rounds to process before doing it and I have no where near that for either. But if I go to the range I'll easily shoot 200 something .223... and sometimes I'll go twice a month. Then there are a couple BLM camping trips...

He said "stocking" not "reloading" in that part of the post.

Anyway, to answer the question when I first started shooting I kept it to .22/9mm/.45 for handgun and .22/.223/.30-06 for rifle. Basically a big medium and small for each category, and only five total.

Then I inherited some things and got a 45 Colt conversion kit and Mosin ammo's so cheap and blah blah blah AR Pistol 300 BLK blah blah I'm not sure what the total is now. In theory I could consolidate but there's sentimental value, etc.

Basically I've just given up on it. Things I shoot a lot I keep a lot in stock, and a lot of components, too. For things I don't shoot that often... well, for handgun calibers pretty much I have primer and powder around already so the only issue is bullets, and I cast so basically if I run out I need to grab a 45 Colt or 38 Special mold next time I'm doing a casting run. It's not like I feel that I HAVE to keep a thousand bullets in stock or whatever because I can make more as needed.

Id ever sell guns to consolidate reloading stuff. That's crazy business.

Right now I have my xl650 set for .40 and have just started processing brass for 30-30 and .223. I have dies for 35 remington, 30-06, and 375 h&h that I'm going to start loading for friends, and I also have dies for 44 spl/mag and 38/357 that I bought because I got good deals on them. Slowly going to get my xl650 setup for the other calibers that I load a lot.

Everything I shoot. 38/357, 9mm, 223/556. Only 2 types of primers. I limit myself to one type of powder per caliber at a time. That way I can focus on the loads. I also cast for the pistol calibers so that helps in limiting the types of projectiles, and allows me to control quantity

I don't own a gun in every caliber, but I take my friends weapons out to play every once in a while, so I load the ammo myself or with the friend whose gun I'm going to shoot. They love to hang out and learn how to load

Soon, I'll start loading 12 Gauge, 7x57 and 280 Rem

.38/357, .45acp, .223, .30-06

I am going to try using SRPs for .38/357 once I'm out of my current batch of primers, just because logistics are easier but I've gone through over 5k of SRPs in the time it's taken me to go through 500 SPPmags.

I'm considering trading all my .45acp LPP brass for SPP brass because no one wants it and that would further consolidate my primer needs. I use bullseye for both .357 and .45acp, and IMR4759 for .357 and reduced load .30-06. My generic .223 powder is the same as my generic .30-06 powder. I have no secondary .223 powder and only three other .30-06 powders.

I REALLY LIKE CONSOLIDATION. It's why my new long range build is in .30-06 and not something more rational like 6XC or 6BR.

9mm, 40s&w, 357sig, 45acp .223, 7.62x39, 30-06, 7.62x54r, 8mm mauser and 22lr.

I reload 9mm, 45acp, .223, and soon 30-06 I tell myself I'm going to stop there but probably not when ammo restrictions begin My gf reloads 45LC so we group buy the same components for 45LC & 45acp

In reality, I rarely shoot 40s&w, 357sig, 8mm mauser, and 22lr due to price or lack of availability. But Im stocked for zombies and the UN invasion.

So Im mostly shoot and reload 9mm, .223, and by association 45LC.

Slowly shooting up my 2012 Mayan Doom stash to make room for reloading components.

If I was to ever cast bullets it would be for the 45's and I would try to trick my gf into doing it.

ah yes, forgot the .303 limey. recently received a very nice MEC shotgun press that I was very excited about, but the more I think about it, it's unlikely i'll ever load for the shotgun. maybe I should trade it for a turret press or some powder or something....hmmmmm
